Heard murmurings on the terraces against PV that sounded pretty convincing that Alfie is off in January. Not that much of a surprise, I know. Like the terraces is ITK! Although it would be no surprise if he moved on given how little game time he's now getting.

What on earth makes you think this ? There’s no chance we’ll lay out 400 + k on a player , I’d be amazed! Just a feeling as I said ..... but certainly if the some of the potentials we are targeting are permanents then they will cost. Nothing concrete just based on chatter. What feeling, where are there any signs Wael's going to give JB £400K to spend, when all we've spent recently is £50K/£100K but mainly free transfers/loans.

Expect to see at least 1 if not 2 midfielders. Someone who can run the game would be good but difficult to find, but fully expect cover for Rossiter, hopefully someone who can add a bit of physical strength, someone who closes down quickly, protects the defence. Personally think we have more than enough going forward, just need to balance the midfield. I liked the look of Lewis Warrington when he played against us for Fleetwood recently, currently on loan from Everton. He got rave reviews last season for Tranmere too. Not sure if he is on loan for the season or not though but definitely one we should keep an eye on

Thomas is a loan player , it would be better over the coming seasons to have a permanent choice for the right side of centre back. So whether the perm right sided centre back is Taylor or Thomas being perm would be an advantage. Of course it might be the fee for Gibson or a different pkayer/position altogether. Yes I agree with that but buying in January normally comes with a premium. Wait until the summer for a centre back but another midfielder would be nice in the Jan window. Generally january isnt a good time to get players as they take a while to get up to speed and fitness. Loans are best in january most likely. Although sometimes you have to act when an opportunity arises else you may miss out altogether. Anyway ,midfield is where i feel we need to boost the squad most. Not long to wait i guess.

Turner cooke at Newcastle. Next one on their conveyor belt they are looking to loan out in January. Possibly at championship level already but would be guaranteed playing time with us.

Last season someone on the terraces told me he’d heard we’ve bought FGR’s main stand and will install in where the south stand is, I’m still waiting for the official announcement.

One looks sorted. Boro officially confirming that Josh Coburn is destined to remain at BRFC all season.
"Middlesbrough intend to let Josh Coburn see out the season at Bristol Rovers rather than recall the striker in January, Kieran Scott has confirmed."
"But the loan move is playing out exactly as Boro hoped and, unless there's a dramatic change of heart in the next few weeks, Coburn will stay with Rovers until the summer, as head of football Scott confirmed when speaking to the Middlesbrough Supporters Forum at a recent meeting."
Bobby Thomas to be confirmed.
Lewis Gibson to be confirmed.
Before new loanees are a concern the pressing matter is persuading parent clubs, Everton and Burnley, that whole season loans or better are clarified.
These two defenders have found their feet and are part of a mean-looking defensive trio in front of JB.
Additional loanees might help but not every loan in January will blossom ala Geordie M.

Would be very very surprised if Everton recall Gibson (maybe to loan him to champ only possibility) Would just be surprised if Burnley recall Thomas Fingers crossed

Credit to Barton and Jennings, I’ve always been hesitant of loan signings in the past, but their loan strategy since coming in is the best the club has ever had. Even if Thomas, Gibson, Coburn were all to be recalled, I feel reassured that their track record of finding younger lads from the higher divisions would have us on a sound footing soon enough.
That’s praise from Newcastle and Middlesbrough towards us for nurturing their talent. I wonder if other clubs are taking notice too.

Just as they will have noticed how we used to get loans and they often sat on the bench and didn’t receive the game-time that the parent clubs would have liked. A much more positive picture now regarding loans. UTG!

Before JRs injury I think we were all in for Connor Taylor - loan with a view to permanent in the summer.
Now though I think it will be a tough tackling Midfielder with some experience of L1 / Championship and a young bright creative lad on loan from the premiership.
Fully expect another attacking option … maybe pacey tricky winger on loan as well.
Four in - Hopefully minimum four out.

Of course it's a guess nobody as a clue what's going on now at Rovers, I'm not even sure Stoke or Taylor would consider a move given he was back on the bench v City. Rossiter is only out for a few weeks, I can't see JB's going to change track in January as buy the time the new CM is in the building & up to speed JR will be back in the side. A lot depends on how long JB sees Coutts & Whelan continuing to play first team football.

As I suggested all we're spent recently is £50K/£100K on signings we haven't even spent £250K on one player so there's no obvious signs Wael's going to splash out £400K on.

You’re very optimistic if you think JR will be back within a few weeks. More likely 2-3 months! That being the case coutts and Finley need to stay injury and ban free, we ve been here before and signed jordan stewart and Robert Wolleaston, we need another midfield enforcer.

Isn't 8 to 12 weeks a "few weeks" if it's the lower end it'll be late Jan/early Feb, so just when the a new signing would join us, the higher end a month or so after he's joined. If JB doesn't trust Coutts & Whelan as back up then he was probably always going to look to sign another CM anyway, perhaps a lot depends on whether he can finally get Westbrook off the wage bill, or at least a proportion of his wages.
