Sorry confused …..when is this being played? Games (in theory) to be played in the week commencing 12th December - with the World Cup semi finals on 13th/14th December at 7pm. Given the PJT is so poorly supported anyway what logic is there in playing the games in a week which would clash with the WC semi's.

Do you think England will ask to switch the kickoff time so as to not clash with the papa johns trophy games ? After all so many England players started off in the comp...dont want to damage future England chances...

Can't find any enthusiasm for this Mickey Mouse competition.

Absolutely well said, GHB and others. To add ... Wolves v Man U invading this competition should be enough to show intent and illustrate how broken the competition has become. I'll boycott it until the hilt, I know others won't. Happy memories of the old format though, and I guess that's where it's best consigned....to memory. While I still have it... How can Man U and Wolves be invading the competition, aren't all Premiership sides invited? Um....because it started as Associated Members Cup and now EFL trophy, none of which Wolves / Man Ure belong to.

It's not been limited to EFL clubs for years so Man U's recent involvement doesn't really highlight anything, unless EFL ever decide that they don't want Premiership money the format isn't going to change.

There have been more years allocated to the bottom two divisions exclusively, than this shower, so as long as Premier/ Championship continue their infiltration, it's an invasion of EFL... Man U, or otherwise.

Did you boycott it during those seasons?

Did you boycott it during those seasons? Absolutely! It's a disgrace we didn't even qualify for one year! It's an Associated Members Cup, that was a noble thought on introduction....to help fans get to see their team walk out at Wembley, whom otherwise wouldn't ever have that opportunity. Conference have their FA Trophy ... It would be just as wrong us (or any EFL) entering that.

Scrap the competition to try and alleviate already overcrowded seasons of fixtures!

Scrap the competition to try and alleviate already overcrowded seasons of fixtures! Have divisional cups instead. Championship cup League one cup League two cup For league one. First round. The highest placed relegated champ team and the 3 losing playoff teams get a first round bye. 20 teams playing 10 games. Second round. 10 winning teams plus the 2 play off semi losers. 12 teams playing 6 games. Third round.(QUARTER FINALS) 6 winning teams plus relegated team and playoff final losers. 8 teams playing 4 games. Fourth round.(SEMI FINALS) 4 teams playing 2 games. Fifth round. (FINAL) 2 teams playing 1 game. So at most a team has only 5 games to play.
