Bit of a risk posting this but it's been reported elsewhere that 'Oscar' has passed away, i believe it relates to Oscar of Eastville fame, programme seller extraordinaire, and along with, gas, brass bands, giant 1/2-time score letters, flower beds etc he is one of my abiding memories of the old ground, if so RIP and thoughts to friends and family.

A great character who made light of his disability and is fondly remembered as a Gashead who went home and away supporting the Rovers and selling programmes etc from a bag he carried with him. I remember him from the early sixties, he was older than me and has passed on after a good innings at a fair old age. RIP Brian.

If his real name was Brian, why Oscar?
He was disabled, but far from stupid. A really nice guy, I think he helped out at c*ty82 too in their bankrupt season..
A shame. Fondly remembered. Deserves a minutes applause.

We used to travel on the same coach to Blunsdon every Saturday to watch Speedway, 1978/79 I think. He was usually with his friend, a blonde lady with glasses as far a I remember. RIP Oscar.

When I was a kid I remember he always had a radio to his ear and relayed the incoming scores from all the other games to the crowd around him as we left the ground. UTG!

Nice little video about Oscar/Brian here with a small tribute from our very own DC. I hadn't realised he was 82 when he died. That's a good innings. RIP
