Why does that make him a bellend? It’s not like he’s said “we’re going to get automatic promotion by the end of next week” or anything similarly outlandish, is it? Just reiterating his belief that we will get to the Championship with him at the helm. I’d much rather have a manager who is positive and forward-looking than someone like Dave Penney, for instance. takes one to know one I guess

do you actually know a "bellend" or are you basing it on personnel experience ?

Bellend indeed. I couldn't believe this statement "I think somebody pointed out if we have one or two of our starters, our key components, out, the people who are coming in to do the job behind them at this moment in time aren't capable of doing it at the level of Boreham Wood, never mind Bolton Wanderers, and we need to get them up to speed. "If they can't get up to speed they'll leave and we'll bring in new people who can do the job." You what?? Who recruited those players then? You know what Barton, just shut the fu*k up and concentrate on coaching the team. I wish a few on here would just do that at times....

Haha he’s riled a few haters again 😂👍 Not worthy of being riled. His utterances are an embarrassment to the club. If he just let's the football do the talking he would be fine. I love how Joey is however some of our fans are an embarrassment, maybe we need a manager like Buckle who said we need to lower our expectations, yeah that would be better

"I'm absolutely convinced that I'll get Bristol Rovers to the Championship during my tenure here," Barton told BBC Radio Bristol.
When does his contract run to?

UTG! So for clarity, how does Barton saying that he believes we will achieve promotion to the next league up, sometime in the next few years, compare with Lansdown & Johnson stating that C**y would be playing Champions League Football inside 5 years of the quote being made; not just Premier League Football mind, but Champions League. That’s top 4 territory. Not even close.

It’s what JB does though isn’t it? In weeks when we don’t have a mid week match I honestly think he gets a bit bored. He shakes things up by making a noteworthy headline. Oldie’s right in a way in that I also wish he’d concentrate on coaching the squad, when he does that we do very well. But reading the whole article I also think good for him, it’s great that he’s showing ambition, a bit of commitment and making a headline solely about BRFC without ****ing off any other teams or players. And basically he’s cleverly saying what a lot of fans are dreaming of. Isn’t he? I think he’s ambitious and I like the fact that he thinks his ambition is matched by us. Been a long time since that’s happened. I also wonder if it’s not a message to Wael as well to sort out the ground. I may be wrong on that. J It’s an understatement to say we need a new ground but I’ve never been embarrassed about the Mem or even Eastville in the last few years and that was a lot worse, imo. I won’t go over old stuff about our need for a ground or at least some communication from the AQs about what’s happening but it’s never embarrassed me. Other fans talk about us as a team but rarely do they talk about our ground in my experience and I see a lot of football outside of us. We are a lower league football club at present with ambitions to be better. It is what it is. I get annoyed at the silence from the AQs, I get frustrated with nothing happening and I get confused at the AQs seemingly doing little to offset our real need (things may be happening but with no communication how do we know?) But not embarrassed. At the Mem I watch the football and it’s been good over the past year.
Come on Wael, sort out the ground.
UTG!

Serious question, would we be allowed in the championship with our current ground? Thats a valid question we may have to ground share shudder just thinking about it admittedly Coventry shared with Birmingham don't really fancy sharing the TEDs ground. Maybe a promotion to the championship is the push we need to get Wael to pull his finger out and get it sorted sooner rather than later, although its encouraging to see how positive JB is on promotion and where we stand.

That’s top 4 territory. Not even close. Give the relative league positions, finance, set up and recent history both statements are utterly ridiculous and implausible. So far Barton has achieved one promotion and one relegation. Let's establish ourselves as a consistent top ten league one side before we make predictions like that. As others have said, we cannot even put a cup run together right now.

Imagine the Championship in our embarrassing sh** pit of a stadium 😢 Luckily football is played on the pitch, which is decent. Stadium would hold us back, as we won't bring in much more money etc and it wouldn't be big enough. I want us to have a stadium, as it's our best chance of progressing, however, I prefer to stand in a packed terrace, to sitting down.

You know what Barton, just shut the fu*k up and concentrate on coaching the team. This is, IMO, a refreshing approach with our history of floating around aimlessly between the middle to lower tier festering with no direction. I love the fact that those players know that if they are not going to give it their all then they can find another club. Why should footballers not be under the same pressure of those of us who are required to perform to a standard, the last time the language of not good enough was used there were mass exits and we went on to get promotion. He has set high standards, and for some of us it's nice to see and feel as though the club actually have some ambition to progress, not seen anything like this personally in 35 years, and yeah I dream of seeing Rovers play at a higher level, and carrying passengers, JB's signings or not should never be a consideration IMO. We have had our share of Chris Zebroskis and Andy Thompsons over the years, UTG.
