It’s what JB does though isn’t it? In weeks when we don’t have a mid week match I honestly think he gets a bit bored. He shakes things up by making a noteworthy headline. Oldie’s right in a way in that I also wish he’d concentrate on coaching the squad, when he does that we do very well. But reading the whole article I also think good for him, it’s great that he’s showing ambition, a bit of commitment and making a headline solely about BRFC without ****ing off any other teams or players. And basically he’s cleverly saying what a lot of fans are dreaming of. Isn’t he? I think he’s ambitious and I like the fact that he thinks his ambition is matched by us. Been a long time since that’s happened. I also wonder if it’s not a message to Wael as well to sort out the ground. I may be wrong on that. J It’s an understatement to say we need a new ground but I’ve never been embarrassed about the Mem or even Eastville in the last few years and that was a lot worse, imo. I won’t go over old stuff about our need for a ground or at least some communication from the AQs about what’s happening but it’s never embarrassed me. Other fans talk about us as a team but rarely do they talk about our ground in my experience and I see a lot of football outside of us. We are a lower league football club at present with ambitions to be better. It is what it is. I get annoyed at the silence from the AQs, I get frustrated with nothing happening and I get confused at the AQs seemingly doing little to offset our real need (things may be happening but with no communication how do we know?) But not embarrassed. At the Mem I watch the football and it’s been good over the past year. Come on Wael, sort out the ground. UTG! It could be a message to Wael about the ground, lets hope it is needed at some point in the next few years. But I thought it more likely a message to Wael that money will be needed to improve the team in January and/or over the summer. "I still think we're a couple of bodies away from having a group capable of challenging to get out of the division. But, again, we're making a decent fist of what would be a season of consolidation,"

Give the relative league positions, finance, set up and recent history both statements are utterly ridiculous and implausible. So far Barton has achieved one promotion and one relegation. Let's establish ourselves as a consistent top ten league one side before we make predictions like that. As others have said, we cannot even put a cup run together right now. I do believe that Joe Barton said just that recently. " This season's plan is to establish ourselves in League One" I think you probably have something against the bloke UTG Why because I think he was stupid to have said he will get us into the Championship before he leaves? I would think that was a stupid comment for any Rovers manager to make, indeed for half the managers in League One to make. Maybe it was how I expressed it? Managers should have high aspirations and goals but stating them to the press almost always comes back to haunt them.

What works you prefer JB to say "we're just aiming to finish mid table for the next few years"?That's really going to get fans though the turnstiles.

Concentrate on the football and climb the table and that will get all of us going. Go back a year or more and there was plenty of nonsense from Joey. Someone even started a thread on it, mocking all the nonsense pseudo psychobabble. Ironically, when he shut up he turned the season around with amazing results, fantastic football and ultimately one of the best final day promotions in our history. He has proven (in League Two) what he can do when he keeps his head down and cracks on. My preference is that he does the same again now.

Nothing wrong with the Championship comments at all. Hope he is right. I always dont like the comments he makes having digs directly or indirectly at players, but used to that now. He wont change. I just hope he's done his job and has them up for this and maybe after 3 months has worked on our set piece defending a bit! January needs a couple of new additions and a couple of underperforming squad players to step up. At the moment, as soon as we have 2 or 3 first teamers missing, we really struggle The public digs are not in my opinion mouthing off ,they are preplanned. Its all part of him using different approaches to motivate players. In fairness its not like people on here dont slate players after bad performances or a run of bad form ! I thought people demanded "transparency " these days. Anyway ,its his job and career thats always on the line . Rovers are here with or without any given manager.

Can't help but love JB'S positivity, hands up who laughed when he said we would get promoted post last season's Exeter debacle? those who mock him do so at their peril! With respect 3 games into the season we were “going after city” and a few games later we were just “hoping for 4 teams to be worse than us”. Makes his words meaningless

]I couldn't believe this statement "I think somebody pointed out if we have one or two of our starters, our key components, out, the people who are coming in to do the job behind them at this moment in time aren't capable of doing it at the level of Boreham Wood, never mind Bolton Wanderers, and we need to get them up to speed. "If they can't get up to speed they'll leave and we'll bring in new people who can do the job." You what?? Who recruited those players then? You know what Barton, just shut the fu*k up and concentrate on coaching the team. Don’t see anything wrong with that to honest, and yeah he brought them in but show me a club/manager who doesn’t make a mistake with signings and I’ll show you a flying pig. No time for sentiment in football and we’ve been victims of it far to many times in the past, if Joe says a player isn’t good enough for the Gas then I agree, it’s see ya asap !

We all know what JB is about, he's been here 2 years now. Why are people still getting so worked up?? I couldn't care less what he says so long as it's not offensive. He got us promoted first time of asking, he has put together a very decent squad and the mentality ingrained in the players is better than anything I've seen in the last 25 years.
Besides the DC years when have you Barton bashers been as excited by a rovers team in the last 20 years??
Do you lot want the kind of dross we had under Buckle, Atkins, Garner and the like again? Happy to live in mediocrity?
I for one am happy we have an ambitious manager aiming for promotion every year regardless of what league we're in. So long as he behaves and doesn't create unwanted drama off the pitch, we are lucky to have him at the helm.

Why does everyone insist that myself and others are Barton bashers who must want a return to the days of McGhee?
Can we not be content with a Barton who keeps his head down, as he did for the second half of last season?
Barton joins and talks crap. Relegation.
Barton keeps talking crap. Poor start.
Barton focuses on the football. Probably the best football I've ever seen us play.
To me there seems to be a correlation.

Could also be seen as a tactic to take the attention and pressure off the players and poor performances when they happen. Probably not but that could also be the correlation, he talks "crap" when we're not performing well.
