Iβve just watched the video on Twitter (if someone could post it that would be great).Β Massive shout out ta our club for treating Jacob to a day out ta remember las weekend.Β
Tom Gorringe, th Community Trust, th gaffer Joe Barton, th Players (inc. his favourite Aaron Collins) an plenty of others really made him feel like a king for th day, I dinnae mind sayin I shed a few tears watchin that. Well done evryone involved ππΌππΌππΌ
Two more quick points, folk like Jacob are a shining light in this world an are an example for us all, I was sat here mulling over my stupid problems feelin sorry for maself - god bless you Jacob, yous made my Saturday more positive jes watchin you ππΌ
Secondly, never forget how much time an effort some of these professional sportsman put inta their communityβs an charitable work, much goes unseen but a good few oβ them really make a difference.Β

Watching this has made my weekend. Seeing how much Jacob enjoyed his day, and the effort put in from all areas of the club to make it so memorable for him. Feeling happy and emotional at the same time, Iβm sure Jacob will be wearing his shirt with pride.

I think I also heard that Collins told Jacob if he scored heβd give him his match worn shirt and as Collins did he found him after the match and gave it to him β¦ just shows what an amazing club and group of players we have

Thanks for posting this Jock, this is superb. I won't lie, the video brought a tear to my eye. Very well done to the club and BRCT, they continue to be a huge credit to the Gas.

Top post and well done the club on this one for making Jacobs day.
Really puts things into perspective, when feeling sorry for ourselves and worrying about trivial things.

I wonβt lie, it was a proper cutting onions video.
Jacob clearly has a serious disability but my word, his smile, his personality and his engaging manner shone through in that short video. What a lesson for us all.
Absolutely fantastic of Adam Tutton, the CT, the management, players and all involved to make a day like that for him.
Makes you proper proud to be a gashead.

Jacob if you are reading this, know that you're so loved at the Mem. Indeed. My lad went through some serious health issues when he was born and it was traumatising, emotionally draining and something I wouldnβt wish on anyone. Thankfully my lad is ok and his problems were nowhere as severe as what Jacob has to live with. However when I see the challenges that people like Jacob have, it weighs heavy on my heart, because it really isnβt fair. Everyday must be a serious challenge in lots of ways for Jacob and his parents but there they are, full of smiles and with the same thing that binds us all together, football and the gas. I echo your words quartered and if Jacob or his parents are reading this, the door to box 8 is always open to you, I for one would love to meet you all.

I echo your words quartered and if Jacob or his parents are reading this, the door to box 8 is always open to you, I for one would love to meet you all. Prior to experiencing intense growing physical challenges, I spent several years supporting people with disabilities both at home and in employment. Looking back over the past 30 years it was easily the best and most enjoyable type of work, certainly compared to the dull corporate wheel. I guess I must have helped somewhere in the region of 200/300 as some of the work was contract which meant meeting a lot of people with disabilities and family members. Working to support a huge range of physical and mental challenges. One thing stood out back then and I use it to keep me going through tough days is the human spirit that exists beyond disability. Its incredibly inspiring to witness, especially in young people who haven't been tainted by society with a want, want, want attitude. How people get through so much in the face of adversity and still manage a smile and humour is intense to witness at times. Rob Burrow is a shining example in the public eye, as was Doddie Weir since his recent sad passing. While the world argues over politics and fool themselves into thinking more money means more happiness, there is an awful lot of people out there living with limitations and feeling very grateful for the opportunities that do happen. I don't know Jacob personally, but I imagine he got more out of last week than the vast majority of Gasheads. What many people take for granted others feel amazement to be able to experience the same thing, its truly humbling. Really pleased to hear your son is in a much better place 1981, there is no stress like having a child who has to battle illness and disability, it can be a cruel world.
