With so many of the bottom 6 or so strengthening significantly I can see a lot of movement happening at the foot of the table. Important we get to safety as quick as possible. Starting with a huge game against MK Dons. First home game in a while, need to avoid a 3 L run against one of the bottom teams who, for me, are now one of the favourites to go down. Not sure they have had a good a window as others.
I'm away, but cheer us to victory please. First 3 of the 15/18 required!

It's not so much about our league position, which I think most would be quite happy with at this stage of the season. It's the fact our form has nose dived, culminating in 2 woeful performances against 2 of the weakest sides in L1.
Any team that loses 2-0 at Accrington and gets annihilated at Morecambe has serious issues. Issues we don't seem to have addressed in the January window. Time will tell.
Play like we did in those 2 games and we'll be lucky to get to 42 points, so it's not over dramatic to wonder if we'll reach the 52-55 which may be needed to survive the drop.
I don't think anyone is saying we'll go down, just that on current form, it can't be completely ruled out. Really need to beat MK on Saturday to stop the rot.

If we go one up in the next game we’ll be in the hunt for automatics.

I know that the performances weren’t great but I think that you’re doing a bit of a disservice to Morecambe and Stanley as their recent performances and form and results were a lot stronger than the league position suggests… add to that our injuries in key positions then our tasks were much harder. Take Morecambe - narrowly lost to Port Vale 1-0 away in a very evenly contested game and then beat Stanley (2-0), Burton (5-0), Cheltenham (2-1) all at home before losing to one of the best teams in the league (Ipswich) 4-0 away and then beating us in a game where we played well in patches but then got destroyed through player mistakes…. Stanley - they had won 5, drawn 5 and lost 3 times in all competitions prior to playing us so we’re on decent form - if you took league games only over the same period it was W-2, D-3, L-2 (Derby and Morecambe) So whilst in principle I agree we should be beating sides like that if we want promotion, the results aren’t nearly as shocking as being made out and to me doesn’t demonstrate that we have serious issues…. Yes we’re out of form a little but it’s nowhere near the sensational disaster that is being made out…

FIFTY TWO POINTS WILL DO
It has been established that achieving 52 points will guarantee survival in League One.
In some seasons 40 points might be sufficient but that is an outlier.
Establishing ourselves in League One has to be the top priority.
If and when we reach 52 points our ambitions, thoughts and chants can be recalculated.

Looking at the table, the bottom 4 teams have averaged a point a game or less so even if they improve from now on, 50 points should keep us up. That is a win per month and a few draws,so we should be OK. At the moment we should be looking up the table not down.

I do agree we should focus on steps….. get to the magic 50-52 points then see where we are and decide from there… we were teased by being 8th at one point but focus on the first mini targets and then go for the next one…

I love this forum 👀 In the space of 2 weeks we’ve gone from playoff hopefuls to nailed on relegation candidates! UP THE BLOODY GAS! That’s the joy of being a fan of either Bristol club, it was only 3 weeks ago that the fans of the other mob were talking about having a protest march from the Three lions pub to the ground to protest on how the club was being run, that seems to have gone a bit quiet now with their cup run.

We could safely get to 52 points by playing 5 at the back and 1 up front and scratching out draws every game, but by the time we get there it'll be too late to bother worrying about the playoffs.
No point in being too cautious or we'd never get anywhere.
