"At a guess"? How can anybody guess how many shots a goalie's saved? I doubt Balcm doing any better given he's conceded 8 goals in 3 games We were responding to what the 63% was for Topper, not guessing the stat itself OK, it took some searching but now found Balcombe's stats for Rovers for comparison: P3 GC 8 Save% 61.1 GA90 2.67

JB confirming on Radio Bris that Belshaw has thrown his toys out the pram & won’t be near the first team for some time? No doubt some will blame Barton for this but if he’s ( Belshaw) reacted badly he definitely shouldn’t be anywhere near the first team squad. Correct decision but sure to rile up a few on here .

Even a huge Belshaw fan like myself admits it’s a very bad look to have those clangers against Exeter, only to then throw a wobbler when decent competition for the starting spot is bought in. The opportunity to solidify the #1 shirt should be welcomed in full professionalism, not some cry baby BS.

Yes but when they are unmarked from point blank range as most of our opponents usually are, the chances of saving it is a lot less

No connection. Just puzzled as to why many people on this forum assume Belshaw should walk back into the team when his performances this season have been very inconsistent. On Saturday I was very impressed with Balcombes distribution which these days is an important part of a goalkeepers game. Other aspects of his game seemed to be at least on a par with Belshaw. I am not JB's biggest fan but think he made a good call getting another keeper in despite knowing Belshaw has a good rapport with the fans. Anyway, whichever keeper is selected tonight, I have a feeling they will need to be on top form if we are to get anything out of the match. We've not won a game with Balcombe in goal, dread to think how many conceded. Belshaw has won Man of the Match on more than one occasion, and with him between the sticks we were 6 points off playoffs. So you can call it a good appointment all you like but this squad has fallen apart ever since Belshaw was replaced. People who confuse correlation with causation will all die

Being voted player of the season in your first season, then signing an extended contract does not entitle you to start every game for the rest of your time at the club. If it’s deemed you are not performing well, you just get your head down, train well and wait for your chance. All that throwing your toys out of the pram gets you, is more time on the sidelines and others ahead of you. It’s happened to far better keepers than Belly in recent times at a much higher level in the game and will continue as long as football does.

Can only go by the managers words on the radio at this point. To go from #1 to benched/not involved so quickly, would be surprised if there was nothing in it. But who knows. Just hope Balcombe gets that clean sheet tonight first & foremost🤘🏼

Can anybody say for certain JB has thrown a wobbler before it becomes a forum fact, last week it was apparently down to him refusing to sign a new contract!

I would blame Barton. Signing a keeper under the terms he did, does not suggest it's for competition. It suggests he's already made his mind up. Even if Belshaw was the best player in training, he still wouldn't have played. Plus Barton slagged him off during an interview, after a game. You still want players to knuckle down and fight for a place, but that is harder for a keeper than any other position. More often than not, they don't get there place back unless the other keeper is off form or hard injured. They don't get twenty minutes to impress at the end of a game. A lot of Fleetwood fans said Barton used to fall out with players all the time and that there were reports of bullying from Barton. With his temper and where he just says stuff, without thinking he's always going to fall out with players. How many players has he fallen out with already?? Without knowing the full story, it's hard to say if Barton is to blame at all. But it's worrying that players are continually falling out with him.

Thing is, whenever we’ve heard stories in the past about players having tantrums, people have been desperate for a strong manager to get a grip on it, deal with the prima donnas and stop the rot before it spreads. Now we’ve got a manager who seemingly does exactly that and all the usual suspects are going to be clutching their pearls and spluttering about shocking man management, shouldn’t do it in public, etc. If he’s the manager then he absolutely should be the one who makes the decisions (and obviously take the flak for mistakes), not put every decision to a public vote . . .
