In the same position as this time yesterday, yes the #9 marksman is missing BUT we should have plenty to still be competing at the top end.
If AC doesn’t turn it on today, I can see young Vale coming in to replace him in the next couple.

Tbf, I guess these are good problems to have. Excluding the loss of replacing/improving Loft, we’re in a position where we’re looking at final jigsaw puzzles, not plugging holes. We’re being more ambitious than we’ve been in my life time and financially we’re probably in the best potion we’ve been in my life time, potentially ever.
I guess it’s easy to forget when you care

I thought it was just me who wasn't throwing their toys out the pram because JCH deal didn't go through, disappointed that Ryan Loft went as although not the greatest he did offer something different, but we will be fine as Joey told us last year we got a bargain signing in John Marquis he's the best striker in league one and will get us a hatful of goals.

The JCH saga is over. I think it was putting pressure on Collins and Marquis, which made them nervous when goal opportunities came, which have been quite a few.

We have one of the best front line/attacking Mids in this league, even without the "spear" we should be up the top end very soon
Top 6 if not higher with this squad is very possible

I would go all in now to secure Lyle Taylor on a free. Had good goalscoring stats as this level. 6ft 2 and a Massive upgrade on loft.

I think the most positive thing I can think of is that unlike other years, reinforcements on deadline day weren’t a ‘must’ if we are to compete in this league.
We have a good competitive squad already filled with Championship experience and players that have served us well over the last couple of years.
We were in the position where we just needed to add the final touches to the squad in order to mount a playoff campaign. Hopefully Barton will be able to get the best out of this group of players and we’ll still be in that position in January.
At least we didn’t lose our best striker to our fiercest rivals for £300k right? I don’t think we’re ever going to have another deadline day as bad as that.

If we had signed JCH for a club record fee, promotion would have been expected. That puts a lot of pressure on the team. At least now, the pressure is off somewhat and we’ve got the best part of 1MM still in our sky rockets!!
Saying that, it would have been bloody awesome if he’d signed!!

Before last night’s debacle everyone was saying what a good set of signings, Championship here we come etc etc, now it’s all doom and gloom because JCH hasn’t happened.
The squad is good enough to be around the top 10 come January and the owners have shown their intent so no reason to be despondent, if nothing happens in January then be pessimistic.
Last night may have saved us a chunk of money ready for a January spending spree and we do what we did the last 2 promotions, have a late run and the momentum carries us over the dotted line.
Come on, UTG, get behind the team, onward and upward 👍

Love this thread, good for you Goose and all the positive contributions which i echo whole heartedly, I don't know what went on last night, when i awoke to find the JCH thread at 100 plus pages i assumed he must have signed, apparently not ? from what i can gather there was some sort of admin error? whatever its over, and JB knows what we have now ,time for him to find our best starting combination and time for those selected to deliver ,we know there good enough, up the Rovers!!
