I agree criticism is not inspirational, but think it is linked to the lack of goals. So many fans are anxious at 0-0 and 1-0 during the games as we know if the opposition score we will struggle. I dont think watching Rovers is synonymous with comfort.

I read plenty of people on here moaning about individual players and their abilities or lack of. I can't remember anyone criticising a player this year for their commitment. So.....we've got a squad full of committed players, giving their all, unbeaten in 19 games, top of the league......come on!!! It'd be like asking someone who won the lottery "How do you feel?" And them replying "Well.... I might get run down by a bus tomorrow" Cheer the ef up FFS. UTG!

'Three for a pound and a free week in Spain'. A customer said 'Thats ok, but what are the pies like'

I didn't complain about a lack of commitment last season either - was just negative tactics that took us down and an inability to sign players in attacking positions to keep us away from the drop zone.

Everyones always going to hold different opinions about different players , our success this year has been more about being a good team than having individuals winning games for us . That's probably testament to Darrel Clark . I'm Personally encouraged by the fact we have just gone top and we probably still got a bit in the locker. The people who complain are a minority and would still be complaining if we had back to back promotions and won the fa cup , some people just like to moan. Cant agree with that last bit. No serious Gashead would moan the tiniest bit if we'd had back to back promotions, let alone won the FA Cup!! I can understand both sides of the argument. After spending so many years waiting for some success, we actually went further in the wrong direction, and for a lot of Gasheads, dropping out of the league was just a step too far. In recent weeks I have found myself saying: let's get our ''too big for this league'' heads out our asses and make sure we drive the boys on to promotion, BUT for plenty of people who've supported the Rovers for years and years, nothing that we do in the Conference would ever be good enough... not even being top of the league. The fact that Brostol Rovers would win the Conference ought to be so obvious that it's nowhere near worth thinking about - and I can understand that people feel like that. And it's why we've been on a great run of form, knocking on the door of top spot, and yet still aren't getting 7k at home. I know plenty of people who spent decades supporting the gas, caring about it so much and desperately dreaming for the club to do well, but just don't go anymore because it's too much to take. There's only so much suffering that some supporters can take. I would think that the people who are criticising and moaning a lot, are people who are close to the point of not being able to face it anymore, but are still desperately clinging on... still putting themselves through it. These Gasheads (including myself) are so so disappointed/frustrated/hurt by where we are and feel that seeing as they are still supporting the club, they still have a right to voice their views/feelings. So although I can understand the Gasheads who have stopped coming, I'd much rather have people still coming to support the team/club and moaning, than have people who don't come at all. If everyone gave up (which believe me, a lot of people are close to) then the Club would die. So I kind of feel that we should be grateful that our crowds have held up as well as they have, even if the moans and groans are spilling out occasionally. UTG! a fair summary! I did some stats a while back and our average League position from 1920 to 2014 was quite high in the 3rd Tier. Even higher of course if you take out this Millennium! That is what a lot of people expect / want. One tiny point... I think we would see more 7k crowds, but 1) we had LOTS of evening matches this season (close to 10 from my memory) and most were shuved into the space of a few months. Quite a few were 3 days after another home game. We weren't exactly playing that well either. Shame because it has meant we've had a dearth of saturday afternoon matches in the sun / dry / proper daylight. 2) When Braintree Town (bless 'em) bring 23 fans it affects the overall attendance. And in general there just aren;t any clubs in this division who will bring a lot. Lge 2 is actually currently a div with a LOT of close-ish / well supported away travellers - we had Gulls, Pompey, Plymouth, Oxford, Newport, Chelt (er...), Exeter, and even Wycombe maybe. Yet another reason to get back into Lge 2. I know it's a bit late but crowds should rise now. Sadly only 5 games left though.

I have not attended a single game this season because'
Will be honest enough to admit that im getting itchy feet and an appearance on the terraces is in the pipeline. I am excited by this current lot but I have ' like many gone through the mill over the past 10 or so tears and it hurt to see our club like this.
Critisize me if you want as after 36 years of loyal support home and away I had had enough..... Just my view and opinion but above anything I love this club with my heart.....
I always said I could never watch the club I love play non league... maybe that will change very soon.
Before you get on my back remember this, when Rovers left Eastville I went to Bath from game one.... I was one of the origional faithful 3'000

I suspect (hope?) most gasheads would not criticise a personal decision like yours. Better for people to have principles, rather than none at all, or even worse, saying they have principles and then breaking them and the first sign of trouble. Also, it sounds like you aren't moaning or criticising, but just quietly staying away.

Well at least it's good to see the OP is always positive about our players in his match reports:-
Gosling 4 A chance for him to shine but failed miserably.Slows the game down too much
Lockyer 5 I have to say I am not a great admirer of what seems to be the tactic of holding the opposition at bay in the first half and almost a "take what they throw at us and then get at them later when they hopefully tire.
Blissett 4 Having a tough time and is not helped by the crowd getting on his back when things are not going well.

Yet another reason to get back into Lge 2. I know it's a bit late but crowds should rise now. Sadly only 5 games left though. We have nothing to be disappointed about as far as crowds go this season, far from it: Our averages over the previous 4 seasons have been: 2010/11: 6198 2011/12: 5995 2012/13: 6295 2013/14: 6424 So far this season our average is 6105. If you consider that away attendances at the Mem have been abysmal, with the odd isolated exception, our attendances have stacked up incredibly well. A further comparison shows that after 18 home matches last season our average attendance was 6151, so we're just 46 down per game on average. This leads me to believe that the figures for just the home support must have increased fairly significantly on last year, a great achievement considering we dropped out of the league. We need to average 7572 over the last 5 games to match last season's average attendance, which was bolstered by 8000+ for our penultimate game and 10500 for the last game. It is very possible we could overtake last season given that we're fighting for promotion. The latent potential is clearly still there crowd-wise if we ever do get our new ground and get on a bit of a roll.

i think theres quite a large group of rovers fans who simply cant accept were in the conference and no position in the league[even top] is good enough for them. i take a different view and have enjoyed this season very much but i can understand the other point of view Spot on. Some people expect the level of football we were playing in Division 2 in the 90's.

What the abuse hurling people need to understand is that they may be a major factor should fail. Has the abuse affected Matt Taylor, meaning that he could have scored a few more goals if he was encouraged instead? No-one turning out in our colours should face personal abuse - please don't do it because it destroys.

Feel positive it's only going to be this season as would hate to look back and realise I missed a season just because I refused to watch them in non league. That's my reasoning anyway

I can understand people's frustration especially with the recent years we've endured. I think the disparity in wages of fans and players plays a part in this though. It's almost as though in the old days players at lower levels earnt similar wages to your average Joe, but now even at this level some footballers earn a lot more than most of us. I truly think this detachment makes people think "if he earns that much he can put up with my abuse, I know I would for that money!" I am not sure that the players are on the money you think they are . I agree in the recent past that Rovers had a reputation for paying well and indeed there are probably some guys with contracts that still go back to those days but some of the inexperienced younger players are not on a very good wage at all

That's incredible when you come to think about it. Our average attendance improved in our relegation year and will improve again having dropped into non-league, despite far less away supporters. We really do have some of the best supporters in the country.
