If we get promoted this season, will we be a better club for being relegated last season ? I think so and i think with this squad of players we will challenge for promotion as well ! UTG

Yes without doubt,
Clarke has brought about a different mentality and changed the structure of how the team is operated.
If we get promoted i hope the players (Who we know arent paid a great deal) are rewarded for success.

We will have a better team but we won't be a better club. Nothing's changed.

Darrel Clark has done wonders changing the playing side of things he deserves a lot of credit, unfortunately nothing at board level has changed . i hate to say it but were still only 1 manager away from the next paul buckle or ray graydon

Yeah, I think it's very important we go up this year and take the momentum into League 2. I have nightmares about us failing in the play-offs to a flukey goal, then dominating the Conference for the first half of next season, then DC flipping off to a mid-table nothing-much Legaue 1 side, never to be seen again. And we ship in another loser manager.

- The fans are more united as a result of promotion. (Higher season ticket sales, merchandise etc)
- Whilst this could go one way or the other admittedly. We will have an answer on the Stadium. If positive this is massive.

We are top, but grounded. Thats the appeal of the Gas for me and DC has give us back that attitude and I am so grateful to him for that.

UTG Yes, I said this at the start, however I didn't expect us to be this close to promotion. Really hope this could be the start of brighter things. I've brought my 13 year old brother through as a Rovers fan and all he has seen is sh** every season, he is too young to remember the playoff match v Shrewsbury so I really hope we can be successful this season for him as much as anything else!

We will have a better team but we won't be a better club. Nothing's changed. Spot on. I find that hard to believe 1) Board are about to deliver us the promised new stadium subject to a LEGAL process not a board process 2) We have a leaner, better infrastructure within the club 3) Some of the old dead wood has been removed 4) Better beer in the club house 5) More potential for outside investment

Oh, that's all right then. So you agree with my points then ? I guess it depends how you look at it. A few things will have got a bit better, but fundamentally we're gonna be the same club, with largely the same people in charge. Don't really see the point in pretending your thread is a genuine question, and then pursuing those who disagree with you. Why not rename the thread, 'I believe we will be a better club, and I don't really want to discuss it.' Also, your points about a new ground (and presumably being a better prospect for investment) has nothing to do with relegation.

Plus the GD "ban" suggests not everything is perfect at BoD level.

Point 2 - leaner, some of the backroom staff have been released point 3 - Both, our playing staff are a much better quality than the shower we had last year. GD "retiring" is a bonus As regards your post about that loan, only the board can answer that one !

The fact is, we have been poor for years. A year in non-league football is hopefully the wake up call we needed because we no longer deserved to be a league club when run like an amateur side. If we go up, it will be interesting to see if we have learned from our mistakes. Lets not kid ourselves, this division is poor. Maybe I am being a bit negative, but we sit top of the league without really getting out of 3rd gear. IF we go up, next season will be the real test in my opinion. We have the right manager for the job though.
