Anyone else notice the convo between Ellis and Tyrone Mings on Instagram ? is he suggesting he's looking to put himself in the shop window this summer?

I think that we always read too much in to the postings on social media. I would imagine that every young player who is in good form harbors thoughts of playing at a higher level. Ellis seemed more excited about the whole chicken which Mansell promised to buy him if he reaches double figures!

If Easter hadn't been injured Ellis would be at Crewe right now. DC said so himself. He's been terribly treated for a player we owe at least eight points to this season. I've no doubt he'll want to be off.

Ellis has only been allowed by the manager to start 4 games this season and one of those was dorchrster.
That is frankly ludicrous.
I cant this lazy argument about him being no good when he starts. How can you judge on 4 games, spread apart.
And we've won 2 and drawn 1. One and only loss was last week vs eastleigh.

Istm 'supersub' is an entirely legit position in modern football. Nothing wrong with playing in it, imo.

That is frankly *an interesting choice by a manager who by-and-large has got a lot of things right this season*. I cant this lazy argument about him being no good when he starts. How can you judge on *what the manager sees in training day in and day out*. And we've won 2 and drawn 1. PPG in the league this season is 1.90. PPG when Ellis starts = 1.71 (and as you say 1 of them games was against Dorchester).

I was being facetious, you can prove anything with stats using a small enough sample

I know the instagram post seems suggestive but there's no point discussing it now. If he leaves it won't be till the end of the season and no-ones is doubting his commitment to the team right now.
Also, I had no idea Tyrone Mings was in our youth system. Can anyone remember what he was like at the time/why he didn't make it?

I'm delighted Ellis is playing well although I must admit I was clamouring to get rid of him after last season's efforts so good on him for getting his head down. But I do find it a bit weird that he'd say something like that on a medium that's clearly accessible to all and sundry, Maybe I'm too old for all this social media thingamebobbery and I don't understand it properly but I'd have thought a comment like the above would be better served on a private email or a text message between mates. Not really a comment on Ellis specifically, just musing about the way things seem to be done these days.
Anyhow, hope he keeps banging them in for the club and does us and himself proud.

I totally agree mate. This is Ellis' biggest problem, he's not the sharpest tool in the box.

21 year old Striker scoring goals, hopes to further his career and move up the leagues.
Probably not the best put message in the world, but I'd rather the lad show some ambition
Lets face it, if he wanted away from Rovers that bad, he could have gone to Bath or something or even just sat on his arse and seen his contract out.
Ignore footballers on social media

Hopefully he'll put the same performance together should he start as he does when used as a Super Sub.

Hopefully he'll put the same performance together should he start as he does when used as a Super Sub. we'll probably never know. 4 starts in 42 matches suggests the manager doesn't want to play.

He is also not a small lad, which can help in this league (and others...). Taylor is frankly awful with one-on-one chances. I presume many people are happy at us not scoring goals. We could well end up not getting promotion due to goal difference. How quickly people forget that last year we went down on goal difference! let's be honest, how many of us have already out that to the side of their memory. Wyc didn't actually get more points than us.
