Still can't believe how the Chester guy missed that open goal after Puddy's miskick - he could have walked the ball into the net, knelt on his hands and knees and used his nose (or similar appendage) to poke it in or simply tapped it in. Worst miss I have seen for years. The buzz around the ground afterwards lasted a good few minutes! Credit to Puddy for not letting it affect him though.
Anyone seen a worst miss? The only one I can recall was Robin Stubbs hoofing a shot from 2 yards out over the bar in the early 70s. Or didn't Eliot Richards miss a sitter a year or so ago?

By the time the striker had rounded the keeper, Lockyer was well inside the 6 yard box, thus meaning he had to try to slot it from a difficult angle. He couldn't have walked it in at all. Although the ball was fizzed to Lines in the 2nd half, you could argue that was as bad, given Lines was right between the sticks and unmarked.

Taylor has had worse than that this season, on more than one occasion.

Just looked at the video again - yes Lockyer was in the 6 yard box but in the middle, leaving the near post exposed. Tight(ish) angle maybe but a competent/confident striker should have nailed it. Lines's effort was more of a reflex attempt taking into account the speed of Matty's cross.

Yeah, for me the 'rounding the keeper and slotting it home' Rosenthal style miss is the classic sort of sitter miss. Lines' miss was a totally different kind of miss, it could have gone anywhere, and nine times out of ten, even if you don't get any control, it can rebound off you and end up in the net. It's apples and oranges really, but for me the Chester lad's miss is worse coz it's so classic and clean.

He's scored some half chances and missed some. He's scored a couple from out of nowhere. A very good attacking player at this level and he's been one of the most important players in a team that ALL Gasheads should be proud of.

Chris Lines miss in the second half was even worse I am assuming you mean his run into the box and driving it over the bar. The later ball was driven across goal and slightly behind him, by no means an easy chance to convert

Chris Lines miss in the second half was even worse Yeah had a good game though didn't he. Did he. Mansell was brilliant in Midfield and Monkhouse had his best game for a while. Can't remember Lines doing anything outstanding
