Quite an interesting short read from after the game Saturday.
WHITES PLUNDER POINT FROM PIRATES
Copyright DAFC Ricky Modeste scrambled home a last minute leveller to spoil Bristol Rovers promotion party at Crabble. With three minutes to spare and Barnet only drawing away to Kidderminster, Rovers had climbed to the league summit, but Modeste's strike off the bar now means they have to rely on Gateshead doing them a favour at the Hive if they are to automatically return to league two at the first attempt.
Chris Kinnear admitted having a lot of sympathy for his counterpart Darrell Clarke. 'I would not have been disappointed if we had lost and they got themselves promoted, but then again Barnet would not have liked it very much. I get on very well with Darrell and we have spoken on the phone a few times - He is one of football's nice guys.'
Chris felt the performance was indicative of the season as a whole. 'It was a hard game and there were a lot of nerves for them. Apart from the goal Mitch did not have a save to make and neither did their goalkeeper, but we kept going and the guys did great. Since I have been here, the lads have worked really hard and even if they do not play well, they will not lie down. Let's not forget we have scored more goals this season than Bristol Rovers who are second in the league.'

Chris Kinnear
A crowd of over 2300 were at the game and Kinnear was quick the praise both sets of supporters. 'I though the away supporters were really good today and it was similar to when we went there. Our fans have really got behind us the last couple of years and it has made a massive difference to us. It is one of the reasons why we have come from behind so many times and have the fourth best home record in the league.'
He also eluded to the reduction in expectation as to the amazing turnaround in home form. 'We had one of the worst home records in the Conference South last season, but this year we were the favourites to go down. Fans would have accepted fifth from bottom, but we have had a great season. Next year will not be easy, but the like of Raggett and Modeste signing contracts means most of the players are signed on for next season and we will not have a massive exodus of players. I really think we will be better next season as the players have experienced playing the likes of Barnet and Bristol Rovers and they know what the league is about.'
