Just want to wish you good luck for Saturday and I hope Gateshead will do you a favour and get something at Barnet.
A brilliant effort to sell out your last game, and to be honest I'll be much happier if you go up and we don't have to face you in the play-offs as you're the only team we haven't scored against this season.
We've been down here 5 bloody seasons now (image how that feels) but hopefully this will be our season and we'll see you in League 2 next season.

Thank you for the kind words.
I do fear that if we don't go up first time of asking though we may repeat what many other league teams have done and that's get stuck in this awful division! We've already had our financial budget hit this season from the Sainsburys saga we don't want a double hit by losing our parachute payment

My hope is that we both get promoted as we both deserve far better than this. My worry (like others) is that if we were to fail to go up this season, there's no guarantee we'd be in with a shot next season. Before we know it, another 4-5 seasons could have passed, not unlike yourselves. Here's to hoping Barnet slip up Saturday, we beat Alfreton and then you guys smash the playoffs.

Quite like Grimsby as a football club and hope you make it back up asap, as long as it's not at our expense.

Hope to play yous in the League 2 play off final next year. Sod that! Automatic promotion for both of us I reckon. It does seem a bit unfair to me that you can have a great season in The Conference, finish 2nd and not get promoted, whereas you could have an average season in League 2, scrape into 7th place on the last day of the season and get promoted to League 1. The sooner they make this league 3 up, 3 down the better, but I suppose that's like asking turkeys to vote for Christmas when it comes to the League 2 clubs. Hopefully next season we'll both be voting against it.

That said, I believe playoffs should only exist when you've got more than 2 teams getting promoted. In my opinion, the winner and runner-up should always go up automatically; hence if we can't get the league to agree to adding an additional relegation spot, we should change the conference to get rid of the playoffs. For me, the winner and runner-up should always go up automatically.

When we won the league 2 play offs we didn't score against Lincoln in 2 league games... Then scored 7 against them over the 2 semi final games, you can never tell what's gonna happen in the play offs. I do hope if we by some miracle win the league that you guys win the play offs, the other clubs aren't even worth a place in league 2

remember seeing grimsby spank us 3-0 at twerton in the second tier of the league (league 1 or div 2, it was all changing at the time)....
seems unthinkable now, mind you, it was almost quarter of a century ago, and i'm feeling bloody old thinking about it....

I was there! Ony the second time I'd ever seen the Gas lose in over 50 home league games dating back to 1987/88

Yeah, I was there too. I was also there the season before when we won 3-2. Dave Gilbert scored our winner that day I think. Not at Twerton, but one game I would have loved to have been at was on 14th December 1957. Bristol Rovers 0 Grimsby Town 7 (Our biggest ever away win) although you did get some sort of revenge the following season when you beat us 7-3!

Said if ever there was a scoreline that did not reflect the game that was it. Everything Rovers did just failed to go in - including a Peter Hooper penalty that rattled the crossbar flew out to the half way line and the Grimsby forward raced unopposed to tuck it away whilst the cross bar was still wobbling at the other end. Could just as easily have been 7-7 he said but we were wasteful and Grimsby were clinical. Still wouldn't mind getting beat seven nil once a season if it meant we were in the second tier of league football again.
