Followed rovers for 30 odd years but this season has been one of my favourites, and if it gets better on Sunday brilliant. Been thinking about why and here's my reasons.....
1. Not being rubbish. Most years we are rubbish, but going to games without expecting to lose all the time is a much better feeling than the last few recent years. Being around the top of the table is great. 2. Less vitriol amongst the gas heads at the games and on the forum. Still hear the moaning, the bitching, the negativity but it's so much less. I'm not saying there are not grounds for moaning just that I personally don't enjoy it. 3. Some interesting away days.......love an away day ~ often more than home games. Really enjoyed Gateshead, Nuneaton, Alfreton and Southport 4. Manager ~ Loving what he has done so far, not got everything right but his heart is in it and he talks sense. 5. Players ~ they seem to give a sh** and really try, which is all I ask. 6. A packed Mem - last Saturday I arrived at my usual spot with about 15 mins to kick off and I actually filled up with tears at the prospect of how it would feel if we got promoted that day. Don't know why but it was emotional....and that's why I love Rovers.
come what may the above can't be taken away now, so thanks DC and players. UTG

Great post mate and all so true. I've had a good time this season id rather be winning down ere than losing up there. Not that I don't fancy another crack at it.

One of my favourite things is not writing off an away game as an obvious defeat before we've even got there. I lost count of how many times I've watched us away and it's so obvious we are going to lose as the game goes on but whoever is on charge at the time does sod all about it.

Also for us younger fans (I'm 26 so still clinging on) we have grown up watching utter dross bar a couple of seasons so it's so nice to actually have a team that genuinely give a sh** and give their all.

Having supported them for 53 years, I cannot agree that all years have been "rubbish": There were seasons in the 60's and 70's, for instance, that encouraged fervour. However, when many (most) of the seasons did not result in the anticipated euphoria, we just dusted ourselves down and got on with the next one; ever hopeful.
This season, we have got further than most: Hopefully, we will see it through.
Ooops! Sorry:Yes: To keep in tune with the original post., this season has been far more enjoyable and exciting, for the right reasons, than most
p.s. webmaster; the edit is not working correctly.

Especially when that was the case against the likes of Accrington, Crawley etc... Enjoyed this season, and if we go back up I think going down would of done the club good.

I feel that sums up most supporters feelings, walking to the games and not dreading another dire display from the team has put a smile back on most gas supporters, it's a year today when Mansfield came to the mem, left in shock and utter disbelief and now a year on could not be more proud of the manager, players, back room staff and Our Supporters, Looking back 3rd May was our Good Friday, let's all get together and hope and pray 17th May could be our Easter Sunday the gas is risen, they have risen indeed alleluia!.Blessings to you all.

I have said many times over the years that I would rather see Rovers winning and us enjoying life in a lower division, than struggling in a higher one losing week in week out. The only downside of this season has been the stigma of being Non League
A real positive to me has been the friendlier atmosphere in general from opposition fans as well.

Agree with most of what's been said ,my list
Boardroom shuffle imo it's no coincidence that when a director left the board it was almost like someone had thrown a switch on the whole club as it seemed to come together nicely, in the closed season i did say i thought it was good for the club to hit rock bottom as it would allow the club to be rebuilt from the lowest point we've ever been, it allowed those players who were here to just pick up a pay packet to feck off. A lot of people were upset when players couldn't leave fast enough,i was ecstatic they had gone as it allowed DC to bring in players on better contracts for the club, reasonable wages i.e as i remember STU was desperate to be allowed to join the club look how that turnt out a player who wanted to play for the club which in turn gave us a bit of hope it wasn't long before he and others became firm fans favourites, DC really has done wonders with little money he recognised players who wanted to play this i feel did wonders in the dressing room for player morale, some players made a very difficult decision and stayed with the club after last season in reality that took a lot on their part.
Yes it took a long while for the team to gel together and i feel DC was right in chopping and changing the squad as it gave subs more game time to learn what others were doing on the pitch something you cant do in training, sometime he got it wrong mostly he got it right, all helps with player morale.
Ellis i was one of his least supportive people ,but he got his head down and got on with it mostly he really turnt it round to the point that he deserves his time on the pitch, as far as im aware he now seems to think before posting stuff on social media and seems to have matured several years in one season, i just hope his red card serves to wake him up just a bit more ,im sure it will
There also seems to be a buzz around the club from the bog cleaners to the directors i just feel we needed to be where we are so all this could be done, In DC we seem to have a manager who isnt afraid to tell the players or the fans how it is, seems very honest in his interviews and can genuinely deal with the players
Now one of the most important bits this year is the fans yes we've moaned, yes we cried, yes weve got behind the team, this season just feels like it's what we've been waiting for for a long long time, this also seems to have led to a shithead obsession with our club(weird), It takes me back in time it really does club buzzing, Sh1!heads ripping the water out of us couldnt ask for more. long may it continue
