It might seem strange to think that this is a game of such huge magnitude, but the prize of league football really is massive. However, how do people think it compares in importance to other play-off matches and big cup games of the past. Is it more or less important than may 2nd 1990. Maybe the game v mansfield was the most important game that we ever played in but we didn't realise it until the end.
anyway, a good talking point i think

It's only as big as the FGR home game. We handled that superbly, under pressure from a big crowd.

I would say it's the biggest. Not because the prize is huge, but because the cost of losing could be a catastrophe.

Putting aside the financial side of things I feel the reward of getting back to league football is far greater than either getting promoted to Div 1 or winning a cup game. On that basis this is probably our biggest ever game.
Plus we have the great unknown, what future will we have if we don't get promoted and then lose the Sainsbury's court case. Even if we won the court case can we realistically finance the UWE whilst still a non league club?

Can anyone name a bigger game? May 2nd 2014 Vs. Mansfield. May 3rd wasn't it? I voted definitely. If we don't win this we could be f**ked. If we don't win, next season in the conference will be harder. Crowds will drop off. This season will have seemed like a holiday in paradise compared to what can happen next season if we don't go up. DEFINITELY.

If we lose at Wembley and in court we won't get anywhere for a long, long time imo.

My point is we wouldn't even be in this mess if we'd have got a point in our biggest ever game last season v Mansfield.

Losing is not an option. Fortunately we haven't done much of that this season

Can anyone name a bigger game? May 2nd 2014 Vs. Mansfield. Losing to Mansfield condemned the club to non-league for a season. A season of conference footy isn't too bad, but any more than a year could be very damaging. Just look at what happened to Grimsby! The crowds would drop off, our squad would be broken up, we'd probably be staring at financial oblivion.... with the court case and everything coming up I think the events of May 2015 are going to define what we are as a club for years to come. Win in the final with a big settlement from Sainsburys (or better yet, a court order for them to buy the Mem), and we could be looking at a Championship-standard stadium within a few years, a really attractive potential investment for someone out there, and a the base of a squad that could push for promotion with the right backing. Lose to Grimsby, get a tiny settlement (or worse, face Sainsburys dragging it out further), and we'd be stuck in the conference with a decimated squad, a tiny stadium with three stands and a tent, plunging attendances and not a pot to urinate in (even by Rovers standards!). I'm bricking it.

It's the biggest for the reasons that others have given. If we don't go back up this time, then the finances available to the club reduce, the squad may not be maintained/improved, support will wither, and we risk a very long time in Non-league. That is one of the reasons why I have made the decision not to go to Wembley this time as the pressure of the situation will affect, greatly for me, the enjoyment of the day. Last time was different - we had come from nowhere and were swept along by the run of form between the Millenium and Wembley Finals. Also going up to Lg1 from Lg2, whilst financially rewarding, is nothing like the difference between Non league and League - and the difficulty of getting out of the Conference is so much greater. If we don't do it this time, then I fear for us I'm afraid.

Not for me! It's a Conference game. (Yeah, yeah, embrace it and all that!).
Rovers v City for the League title in 1989/90 was bigger!
The court case next week might be the toughest and more important battle!

No, it isn't.
I would sacrifice the final if it meant getting the full £30m from Sainsbury's.
Obviously I'd prefer both.
