Does it matter much if players have / have not played at Wembley before? The fishermen seem to think it will help them. Most of their players have been there in some form or other [not including as burger flippers of course]. Personally I would have thought that it doesn't make a huge difference, especially considering our team went up there today to have a mooch around, and, as DC says 'get the selfies and tweets out of the way'. And although our crowds cannot be compared to 45k in a massive stadium, our players are quite used to the so-called pressure of expectations at BRFC and an 11k noisy crowd. Most in this lge won't even be used to that. I would hope that how people handle pressure [of all kinds] is more important per se than having played at Wembley before.

BTW - Just out of interest, how many of our players have been there before? Lee mansell - with Torquay I think marcus Stewart's experience might help them a bit. Give a bit of a talk to the players maybe. Just hope he leaves his headband and floppy fringe at home Not quite the same but Lee Brown and Tom Parkes' involvement with England C must have got them quite used to the England set-up, long away trips, new grounds etc.

Although its an absolute cliche, I'm a fan of the quote by DC "play the match, not the occasion".
Couldn't be more truth in this. If they manage to do this, they will win.
However, for players at this level of football, how can you not want to take in every moment of playing at Wembley when it may be your only chance to play there?
It's a lot easier said than done, not many players at this level would turn up focused solely on the match, and take it all in after the whistle has gone when their sat at home going through photos of the day.
Selfishly I hope the players have got their photos and bits and bobs out the way today when they went there for the sake of getting us back into the league, but whilst its a superb one-liner from DC, we're not Man City/Chelsea/Arse who would go through the motions at a big Wembley game..

Has anybody here played a cup final in any sport at a neutral venue? If you have, you will know that your body does things slightly differently for some reason. Adrenaline, nerves, anxiety, different preparation, surroundings, playing surface etc.
Having played there before may help some, depending on their experience on that occasion. Going there today will help their perception amongst other things, and the obvious stuff like selfies etc.

A good few beers in Spearmint Rhino on Saturday night should help to loosen the tension.

Absolutely, massive advantage to Grimsby. We're fecked basically, they are massive massive favorites now, can't possibly see us living with them. We have no chance whatsoever. We are huge underdogs now. Grimsby - fair play it's yours to lose.

Hasn't Mildenhall played there as well? good shout just checked yes, he played in the Lge 2 Play off Final in 2006 for Grimsby Town. Lost 2-0 to Yeovile town. At Cardiff though. Then, transferred to Yeovile and went to Wembley with them in 2007, but lost 2-0 to Blackpool in Lge 1 play-off. With a record like that I rather hope he doesn't play!

I think we just need a good solid 10 minutes to settle the nerves, once the nerves die out hopefully we'll see the lads grow in confidence and go onto win it.

I'm like a coiled spring just waiting for someone to start a "score prediction" thread. I'm pretty sure this post will start the ball rolling !

Extra time & Pens I think the game will definitely reach e/t - but I too can see it going the distance. 0-0 or 1-1 in normal time.
