This is the honest view from a Grimsby fan. I have tried to be balanced about the outcome tomorrow. Of course it is hard not to be subjective! The game is likely to be very tight I think. Maybe very nervy. I think that the majority of Town fans see the game as 50/50. Both fans don't care about about the game. They just want the win, however it is acheived. Firstly, unlike some other clubs, Rovers fans have conducted themselves with grace, humility and generally good humour. If you go on their Boards you will see this. Just don't mention Sainsbury's (ongoing court case about Sainsbury's pulling out of funding a new ground). The match tomorrow is very close to call. We think that this is our time. Well maybe it is. We have served our time in NL and want it more. Again, well maybe. This is a bit vague though and does not easily translate into a winning position and result. Rovers are the favourites. They have more pressure on them with the higher expectations. Can they handle this pressure and expectation on the day? Both teams are in championship winning form. Rovers have 24 points from their last 10 games. We have 36 from the last 15 games. Identical records. Chris Lines is a quality player and has made a big difference for them in midfield since he arrived on loan, for the last 10 games. He is also very good with dead ball kicks. We need to restrict his influence in running the match. If not then they will probably have the edge. Both teams have excellent team spirit and are rightly very confident and confident that they will win. We had weakened teams in both league games against Bristol Rovers. These 2 results are therefore not representative of our current performance levels. Rovers seen to play better at home and in front of big crowds. Wembley is a different kettle of fish thtough for both teams in terms of the crowd and atmosphere. They will outnumber us at least 2 fans to 1. Who will manage the occasion the better? We have an excellent record agianst the better teams this season, particularly, away from home. We also beat Barnet home and away with more ease than we expected to. Our main strength though is winning away from home - and where the home fans outnumber us, as Rovers fans will at Wembley. We will be going for our 15th away league win (including the play-offs) of the season. This would be the 16th away win but for that late uncharacteristic colllapse at Chester. Rovers record away from home (9 wins) cannot match this. We have scored in 25 consecutive away games this season. This is another key factor in our favour. The 2 best defences are pitted against other tomorrow. Goals are likely to be at premium. Forwards will be well-marked. We are likely to score though. With forwards closely-marked, a midfielder or defender may therefore score the only and winning goal. I therefore think that there is sufficient key supporting evidence and reason that we will win. I will go for 1-0 with a goal scored by Craig Disley, against his old club. We will see eh? The match and occasion is so different for both teams that fine margins, or a bit of luck, may well decide the outcome. If We DO win, I do expect Rovers fans to be generous in defeat. They are a proper club, built on the right values. If they win, I will stay and applaud the team, even if I will be completely gutted. At least after 2 years of failure, we are in a position to compete for promotion.

you write a long piece on a Bristol Rovers forum.
Do you do the same on your own forum?
I think it's too late to be writing on here TBH. We are now in lock-down mode.
Each to their own fora. Just my opinion of course.

Just read the last bit. erm, if we lose, there will be various degrees of discontent I would imagine. Generous in defeat-whatever that means- is probably not going to be on many people's menu. Fully kitted Barnet fans looking smug beware!

25 consecutive away games? So, Grimsby have scored in every game since our home game pretty much?

25 consecutive away games? So, Grimsby have scored in every game since our home game pretty much? yes, they have I believe. started after our draw. so what, we are 20 away games unbeaten, a new Conference record. 23 clean sheets this season. Scored against every team in the league. Grimsby have only scored against 22 teams in the League... I wonder who they didn't score against??

No they don't. Neither side has the winning edge. The game hasn't kicked off yet.

I always hear that they had a weakened team when we played them. We had Locks and Manse in midfield for the last game against them.

Just look at the youtube videos of our players and managers interviews about the final. Calm, cool and professional.
Then look at Scott Browns interview for contrast. I think they are nervous.
Sorry Scott but everything you said, forest green said that too.

The match and occasion is so different for both teams that fine margins, or a bit of luck, may well decide the outcome. Yeah, I'm dreading the match being decided on a fluky goal or dubious decision. Be a sh**ter for either side.

my prediction is that the game will be decided by either extra-time or penalties (I fear the latter) and either 0-0 or 1-1 in normal time (I'll go with the latter; but it could easily be 0-0 IMO). UTG Anyone want the lottery numbers?

is it just me, but does the terminology of 'pressure' mean very little....
espescially in the context of sport anyway....

I think will nick it as the players have been under tremendous pressure all season so I think they'll keep clearer heads on the day. I think it'll be 2-0 to us. I think we'll nick it with set pieces and are stubborn defence will hold up. Here's hoping though, UTG! And safe travels to all BRFC and GTFC

Only identical records if you compare our last 10 with their last 15. In our last 10 games we have 24 points compared to Grimsbys 20. If you compare the last 15 games then we both have 36 points. If you compare any other longer period then we have the superior record and we finished above them in the League. If there is ANY justice in the game then we will win because we finished second and them third. The final is the correct final because us and Grimsby were the two best teams over the season of the 4 in the Play Offs. Lets hope the best team can win today as well.
