Just out of interest does anyone know if we practiced penalties last week?

Chris Lines "We practiced penalties in training yesterday and decided who would be taking them. It was all cut and dried and we knew exactly what was going to happen.
"I had faith in the boys to do the business. It was made more difficult having to take them in front of the Grimsby fans, but the boys all struck the ball well and it was great to see them go in. It was the perfect shoot-out."

I think one of them said they did penalties in training before the semi second leg. So I guess they would have had another go during the week.

It looked it too whilst we were waiting for them to start you could see Grimsby deciding who would take them whilst our guys were just geeing each other up, getting massages etc another example of getting the finer detail right

Mansell also confirmed it in his interview:
"As I was walking up there, it was just a case of believing what we've practiced," he said. "We've practiced pens a couple of times – I'd missed one, which I can get away with saying now – but it was a case of picking your spot and believing in it."
It was a great shoot out. Can't ask for much more than 5 out of 5.

But I can see your point and your probably right. There was no need for a discussion. The takers knew who they were before the game.

If BRFC can do it, you'd think that England would be able to manage it, too, wouldn't you?
Clarke for England!

I always amazes me when managers players & pundits say there is no point practicing penalties because of the pressure etc. Why then bother practicing set pieces, passing, tackling or anything else for that matter! Great to hear that we were organised & well practiced.
