It is when it's a negative opinion sucking the life out the club and any positivity or celebrations. Go and do something else, Rovers doesn't need you. you're mad mate. Rovers need fans like Hugo more than they need fans like you who make statements like that. The irony ain't lost on me either mind. I love DC and thought it was funny as you like but don't be saying stuff like that.

Not aimed at HtE, just constant negativity.
We've just got promoted!! I'd be happy if Nick Higgs ran down Gloucester Road with his pants on his head.

He should and could be sacked for his behaviour. Getting sloshed and swearing sets a bad example to our supporters who think it's great. Also to his young players who should be looking up to the gaffer for a guide on behaviour and conduct. There are ways to celebrate in style without making a twit of yourself. All that being said, if it was just rumours-ie, happened behind closed doors, I wouldn't mind too much. I am a little embarrassed that an ambassador for the club has done this and even did it after the FGR game prior to the final. I fully understand that certain members of our fanbase love this type of stuff and think he's a proper lad. He's not. He is the Manager. I will also not be surprised if those that think this is great are the first to turn on him when things start going wobbly wrt results. All my opinion and recognise that DC is the best thing to happen here for a very long time. Don't think there's really any problem with what's been said. It's an opinion I mostly disagree with but agree in parts. If we were to shut up everyone who had a different opinion then the cub could quite easily lose its identidy. This thread should be about people making their opinions heard whether or not it's with the majority rather than shutting them up. As you can see though the overwhelming majority love what Clarke did and the passion he's shown!

Fine so far, but mustn't become a habit. Fine to let your hair down but don't forget you're l the manager. Will be hard to tell players to watch their lifestyle if he is doing it too and encouraging it. Booze culture in the squad allegedly contributed to our downfall so not keen to see it back. Enjoy the victory but know where to draw the line please DC

There is a poll and a request for opinion and I gave mine.
I thought I explained clearly enough yet there are other fans calling that pathetic and saying things like Rovers doesn't need....etc. Well that's fine, but I come from a long family of Rovers fans including a former player, and now have 3 children who will support the GAS as long as we have a side to support.
If the Manager from the other side of town had behaved like that, we would be having a field day. Likewise if we had lost and Hurst had been acting like that there would be a shift in opinion on the behaviour. I can cut slack on young players making the occasional social error or having a beer now and again. I would prefer it if the Manager/Directors etc didn't get shown in public acting that way because where do the underlings look when they need a mature head or some guidance?
Just because a majority out of 70 votes? on a footy forum think it's cool-doesn't make it right. Also if everybody who thought it wasn't very good or thought negatively of it weren't welcome, our fanbase would shrink somewhat. I am amused and slightly concerned that so many people think it's so great! It's tacky, amateur and has removed DC from a position of responsibility in my eyes to one of risk.

I disagree - if the grimsby manager did the same had they won I would simply be jealous but totally understand the reaction. If it was Cotterell then whilst outwardly I might ridicule inside I would again be jealous of the bonding with the fans. Don't get me wrong he now needs to steer away from bloody mobile phones but football is the most passionate sport in this country and if you can't let your hair down after what he's been through then we may as well all go and watch crown green bowling - - -

I think that DC has built up enough respect from the players over the season to be able to resume the "Gaffer" role without any comeback. He's been in a pressure cooker environment for 12 months, so the valve was probably going to blow at some point.
I love his passion, and I certainly don't think that it was something which would merit us ditching the best manager we've had for a long time. Although I can understand that it wasn't to everybody's taste, and I'm sure that he will have learned from it anyway.

That's the point I'm making too, some people will be reserved so we should listen to them too If you have your opinions other Rover's fans will share the same ones but I was just putting mine across too.

Its not worth expressing a moderate, sensible or child friendly view about Rovers. We want PASHUN.

For what it's worth, I'm happy that he's been out celebrating with the fans, but I certainly hope that he doesn't make a huge habit of it, as to keep up the fantastic success and achievements, we need to be a professional sports institution with a professional outlook and lifestyle, that everyone at the club buys into.
Having said that, this was a special occasion and I certainly don't begrudge him letting his hair down, he deserves it.
Also, I actually think DC has done enough this season to prove he is professional and meticulous in his approach, and I'm sure he's aware that being filmed in that state can't be repeated on a regular basis, and will not need anyone else telling him that.

Well, that's very gracious of you all to give your permission for DC to have a beer or two just once a year, if that.
And if any of you are in senior positions of any sort, then you jolly well make sure you don't drink any more than that either.

Loved it what a legend, club is bursting with personality its amazing.
And booze culture question marks, DC runs them into the ground in preseason.

I really don't think that the players are going to look at DC getting watered up and celebrating like a fan after that season and think that it's ok for them to get out on the lash all the time, and for some sort of drinking culture to spring up again.
I know some footballers can lack a bit of common sense but they've worked with him all season and can see the pressure he's been under and the great thing he's achieved and also what he's been like for the rest of the season and realise it was just an outpouring of emotion, also this is where the experienced pro's like Mansell, Mildy, Monkhouse and Macca will come into their own imo, that's why it's essential to have people like them to guide the youngsters on the right path, which is another reason why I see none of the above leaving.

Some of us just have different ways of interpreting what support should be. Who of us is to say which is right? I suspect, as with everything else the truth lies somewhere between the 2 positions discussed here.

With respect it's a poll we have been asked our opinions on, no-one has said DC shouldn't do this or do that, fellow Gasheads have expressed their opinions for which their were asked. Some, as the poll shows have reservations for a lot of different reasons, 75% loved it and thats good too. But there's no need to attack Gasheads who have a different opinion to you , we are all different and the club needs us all.
