Ignore this thread if you never want to look down again... personally I never bothered taking any notice of the Conference (sorry, National League) before, but now we are out of it having been in it, I can have a relaxed interest in whats going on down there. It's certainly a unique one, given how much is at stake. I know it's early, but who do you fancy? Tranmere 6/1 Grimsby 7/1 FGR 15/2 Eastleigh 8 Wrexham 12 Cheltenahm 14 Woking 20 Gateshead 25 Full Odds www.oddschecker.com/football/english/non-league/national-league/winnerFGR very underpriced IMO, given they have the same manager (doesn't seem like the type to have the season consistency needed) and throwing money at it doesn't seem to give you that team morale/attitude needed to hit the top. Tranmere also underpriced for me, given that they are complete unknowns. Teams so rarely come back up ( ) that there is a serious risk that they will be nowehere near, unlike the Grimsbys of the world. We know how hard it is to hit the ground running in that league, and an incredible run is needed to make it up. Grimsby.. Will it be their year? I hope the Grimsby Telegrah goes bust and the football club wins the title. They seem to have kept a fair few players, if they can get in decent replacements for the ones they have lost and pick up their form at home, they will be right up there. Otherwise it's bye bye to Paul Hurst Eastleigh... see FGR, and the manager is a tit. Wrexham... With Gary Mills, there might be some value there. They have to bounce back one day, don't they? Cheltenham.. One of the two relegated sides seems to struggle, and I have a feeling it might be them. Have the advantage of knowing what the Conference is about given history. Woking... Attractive football, will probably be another handicap bet for me this year. Gateshead... Any point given that they have lost their manager?

Quite surprised that Cheltenham are so far down 14/1 seems like good odds to me.

1) Grimsby 2) Wrexham 3) Torquay 4) Cheltenham 5) Lincoln
Don't have a clue about who's still in each team and whatever, so the prediction is just a stab in the dark

Any side that can stay fairly consistent will be in with a good chance. There is an awful lot of mediocre/terrible teams in the Conference. We did very well last year to become an exception to the rule in getting out first time. Having said that, I would fancy the scousers to have a pretty good go at it. We won't see Cheltenham again for a while though. There are plenty of sides that can match their budget.
I will probably keep an eye on the table, more so than before anyway. In terms of who I would like to get promoted, I do feel for Grimsby supporters. We could have easily have found ourselves in their position in a few years time, had Mansell not been as cool as a cucumber.

Really hope Eastleigh dont go up. Im a bit sick of these one horse town clubs being bankrolled ala crawley/fleetwood. Call me a traditionalist but i would like tranmere back up. Personally think FGR could be in with a shout through play offs. A lot depends on transfers of course.

Interesting odds for League 2, didnt expect us to be as high up as 4/5 fave with most bookies. Best priced 16/1!

FGR will be up there but don't see them winning the title. Same goes for Eastleigh. The thing with FGR and Eastleigh is they have the funds to give themself a good chance. Wrexham are a big club. Made a few decent signings on paper and have a manager who knows what it takes to get out of the league. He has cleared out a lot of deadwood it would seem but they will have more or less a completely new squad so a lot will depend on how they start. So yeah Grimsby and Wrexham for me.

Also notice Barrow are 33's, aren't they supposed to have a lot of money behind them?

not sure as it's such an open league, if Tranmere pace it and draw the first few game whilst settling in and then pick up the pace the might just make it(still havent forgiven or forgot them beating us at wembly ) . but at the same time it depends if their players are ready to get kicked around the park, as lets face it the conference is like going back 20 odds years to watch and i mean that in a good way, a lot also depends on the refs dont forget. my choice is betwixt grimsby ,wrexham and tranmere. but it's open wider than that in reality

If Tranmere get top after ten games it's theirs to lose (which its entirely possible they'll do, probably for financial/off-field reasons). Basically, I think its like this season...if a 'big club' gets a lead early they'll be hard to chase down...

Grimsby need to replace the players they've loist. If they do they will dfo well, and I hope they do. Tranmere will make the playoffs with a good run maybe pushing them over the line. I really hope the likes of fgr and Eastleigh are nowhere near it for the reasons others have mentioned. Really think Wrexham will do it.

Always enjoyed watching the mid week conference games with a beer and a couple of bets on it.
Although i respect it more, i think I've had my fill of conference footy for a while now.
Think tranmere should do well, but they seem to be in a similar position to us, with an inept board.
Hopefully grimbo will do it.

At those odds my money would be on Wrexham, although it looks wide open this season and if Tranmere can get their act together quickly they could bounce straight back.
