I know we get this argument every year, but...
Why are friendlies against an Arsenal youth team and two Championship clubs, the same prices as a competitive league tie against a Championship club?

Because the aim for any business is to make as much money out of customers as possible.

I'd imagine the costs of getting the games on would be pretty much the same too.

Like it says above, home pre-season friendlies will never make money unless they are against Top 4 prem clubs 1st teams. Doubt they'll open the South Stand on the day to save steward costs.

They should make the friendlies free for season ticket holders like city does. They would still get money from people buying food ad drink

I see your financial point...but based on the overall prices, couldn't we gamble on two matches to gain momentum? Make them a couple of quid (plus food and drink)...get the Mem rocking...make sure the team don't freeze on day one of the League campaign when it actually matters...

Make them a couple of quid (plus food and drink)...get the Mem rocking...make sure the team don't freeze on day one of the League campaign when it actually matters... I completely get your point but from my experiences our opening fixtures have big crowds anyway. Then they dwindle away back to the average of 6,000-7,000 regardless of what division we are in until the end of the season where they drop if we're mid table or rise to 9000 -11000 if we are either complete sh**e or pushing for promotion. I wish I knew the answer regarding pulling in more fans but I don't. I don't think that even being in a new stadium would make much diference after the novelty wore off in fact if we were sh**e in a big 21,000 all seater I could see our attendences dropping off lower than our average at the Mem. We're a strange club really in many ways but from a long term supporters point of view which is mine it's all quite predictable. I do love it though. UTG.
