From the Post article, with Baggie, Balanta and Monkhouse leaving, Puddy and Trotman unsigned the senior squad currently looks as follows:
GK Steve Mildenhall
Defence: Lee Brown, James Clarke, Tom Lockyer, Danny Leadbitter, Mark McChrystal, Tom Parkes
Midfield: Ollie Clarke, Lee Mansell, Stuart Sinclair, Jake Gosling
Forwards: Nathan Blissett, Jermaine Easter, Ellis Harrison, Matty Taylor
I know DC is still hoping for 4-5, but if you could only bring in 3 on a contract, which positions would you strengthen?

Wide left sided is a must to give Brown some support

We need one of each by the looks of it.

If Puddy doesn't sign and we could only bring in 3 more then 2 midfielders and a keeper. If Puddy does sign and we can only bring in 3 then 3 midfielders. 1 central and 2 wingers.
Rather hypothetical though as I'm confident Clarke will get at least 4 like he has said he is after.

I'm hopeful that DC will be able to add at least 4, but looking at the loan signings we had last season I think we may only get 3 permanent additions, with loanees coming in as and when.
As we saw at Wrexham, we need a dependable keeper on the bench. OK if Puddy signs, but if not, that may be a loanee IMO. I also think we were lucky that Lee Brown had a season unscathed. I know Lockyer deputised for one or two, but again this may be a loanee as cover.
For me, midfield needs the most strengthening. Lines in the centre hopefully, with at least someone wide left as well.

It has to be 6 signings now with Monky and Balanta leaving as well. We only have 15 senior pros going by the Post's list and IMO we'd need 21 first teamers plus a few loans as we go through the season.

Personally i'd like to see Greenslade and Lucas given some chances. Both played very well at teams last year, that are now only one league below where we were. Jamie averaged almost a goal a game at the back end of last season for WSM.

If going for only 18 senior pros then probably: 1 goalkeeper who can keep Mildy on his toes, 1 left midfielder who can also move more central if needed (e.g. if DC wants to switch to 3-5-2), and another wide player, preferably a pacy winger who can play on both sides.
Clearly with a smaller squad you will need players who can play different positions when required.

a left sided utility player (a lefty lockyer if you like) although that could be hard to find... a fast right wide man.... a toss up between a keeper and a target man forward....

Matchday squad is now 18 with 7 subs so just 3 injuries or suspensions and we will be short.

There is no way we will get ANYWHERE other than a relegation spot if we try to get by with 4 or 5 signings. Surely his 4 or 5 signings were based on all the players offered terms accepting them?

Its an issue of quality and quantity. As it stands, our midfield is undermanned and short of quality.

Have to disagree again Steve. 4 to 5 additions - even of reasonable quality - and we'd EASILY avoid relegation imo

The only one I am sorry who is leaving ( and that includes Puddy & Trotman ) is Monkhouse. We need a 22 man squad at least if we are going to achieve anything this season.

I'd like to see some of the young ones given a few runouts but only if we are mid-table late in the season with no chance going up or down or we get hit by a shed load of injuries.

Have I missed why Puddy hasn't signed? Given that he was DC's No.1 at the end of the season, does this mean that he's hoping for more money or another club? Or has DC revised his opinion?
We look very light in midfield ATM IMO.

Or Puddy's still on his hols, unless DC intends bringing in a new No 1 goalie I'd be surprised if Puddy turns down the chance of a league football career at Rovers.
