I cannot believe that some fans are in meltdown because we haven t made a load of new signings, DC has stated in the BEP that our business will be done in the last week of June and first week of July. That is a month before the new season starts. We don't want to sign dross, and the court case will have a major bearing on finances. Agents will be asking stupid sums at this time of the year. Expect now six new faces, I am confident DC will have his squad assembled in time, let's get positive utg.

We'll offer you £1,000 a week from now until the court decision is made. Then, if it goes right, it's upped to £2,000 a week for 2 years. If it goes wrong, it's £75 and you buy your own boots.
Deal or no deal?

But it is not really that many who are in meltdown is it? Just the five or six that can never leave their bl**dy keyboards alone, expect everything instantly and only open their mouths to change feet!!

the best time to judge whether our manager has brought in the right players and got the balance right or not is at the end of the season and there were plenty on here slating DC most of last season and we won promotion. II'm not getting too carried away about signings to be honest. I'm enjoying my summer and enjoying the fact that we won promotion and then in August as supporters we go again. DC got it right last season and I trust him to do a good job this coming season. This isn't the time for the fans to be getting worked up theres 9 months of football season for that. Simples.

That's not really the case though as we know from our experiences under MM & JW if the manager gets it wrong in the summer we're knackered all season.

Even if the Judge finds in our favour I assume Sainsbury's will take their time either accepting the Judgement or entering an Appeal, waitng for the court case seems a red herring to me.

Yeah but my point is that we don't know what DC is in the middle of arranging or wants to arrange or would like to sort out etc and our squad for the season will only become clear once the season begins so I see little point in getting worried about it in June.

Exactly. The truth is people are bored because there is no football at the minute and panicking over nothing. We're not in a rush to make as many signings as last time and it is important that we add to the team wisely. I don't think DC is going to have a massive budget to spend but I expect it will be a competitive budget. If we are in a situation at the first game of the season where we are 3 or 4 players short of what we need or maybe even more then I may be concerned but at the minute we just have to trust DC and the board know what they are doing.

You had me at " just trust DC " You lost me at "and the board " I agree the board have made plenty of mistakes in the past but Higgs did back DC after he had proven himself so I would hope having proven himself that the board are going to back him sufficiently again. Until they fail to do so then I won't criticise them.

Have they backed him by offering him a new contract?? I don't know what goes on behind the scenes. You obviously do though, so maybe you can tell us?

The thing is we're not going to be flashing the cheque book around to lure good players from other clubs and on the face of it there is probably little here to tempt players. This is where DC earns his corn by finding the players he thinks he can work with. These don't have to be the stand out players as long as they want to be here and give their best. DC did quite well with loan players last year to provide cover so I expect he'll do the same again.

Look, we don't know the situation, but given what happened at Clarke's previous club, can anyone blame him for waiting until we know the outcome of the court case before committing his future to the club?

It sis the poorer clubs that make their signings first and they are usually on players that know they don't have a lot of alternatives
