Slow news month, so let's dig out our list of people that have been seen at the mem in last few months. . . I'm more interested in general lack of news. Deathly quiet

The timing could be interesting. Does anyone know if Higgs could be aware of the Court decision yet, either officially or otherwise?
If there is anything genuine here then it may have got Higgs' approval first. Could be a win so a 'come to buy us' announcement or more worryingly, we lost so 'look at who you could have instead' distraction.
Of course, it could even be just a column filler for the paper, things are quiet on the football front this time of year.

With combined debts of over £7m with the wonga loan can things really get any worse if we were owned by a hedge fund at the UWE? Aassuming whoever takes over as an interest in BRFC rather than simply assest stripping the club surely anything must be better than the present BoD?

Oh, I think with the right people at the top we can owe a lot more than that !

The current BoD have overseen a few years of less than mediocrity. Many people are calling for investment which we need to progress, so this (if it happens this) may appease the few However the only things consortiums/hedge funds/Venture Capitalists are interested in is making money with their investment. Is that currently possible? I'm used to knowing that we are mediocre and that we have a mediocre BoD and chairman. But the one thing they have that a consortium would not, is a love of the club, supporters if you wish. If Higgs has any love for the club, he must make sure that any takeover is completed by those that have the best interest of the club at heart and not in it for the wrong reasons.

Me thinks the hedge fund people (Icon venue) buy the club to get the rights to build the stadium, then lease back to club at a peppercorn rent and get to keep the 2nd tier profit....

Catchment of over a million... And growing. The northern fringe must be around 150-200,000 alone depending on how you define it. That is equivalent to a city the size of Exeter or Norwich. With the other developments planned such as the proposed ice rink, Concorde museum and the Mall expansion coupled with the housing on Filton airfield, that is a lot of new people (residents and visitors) within a few miles of the UWE.

Hmm, all a bit weird this.
Bit ignorant but I don't really understand how a 'hedge fund' works for a football club, seeing as most lose money - as is stated in the article. Also sounds like a lot of debt could be generated quite quickly.
The obvious thing here is the success of the Sainsbury's case, but even then I'm a bit sceptical.

My heart sank when I read this article. I'm hoping that it's just a journo filling column inches.

Surely a Hedge fund wouldn't work for us? We have very little assets and 5m of dept!

absolute non-story for me Agreed there's nothing in it . Some bloke who tried to buy reading was seen at the mem 6 weeks ago . Why have the post waited until now to report it . No offers or approach has been made seems like a quiet news day story .

We will win this then get bought by the Americans then go on to great, great things. Who needs O Driscoll when you've got PTB Darrol?
This story MUST have legs. It is in both the WDP and the Evil post.

The new MLS team in Atlanta had a vote to get a decent name, and couldn't come up with anything most people liked, and so they had a multiple choice to see what words the fans associated with their new sarker franchise, and they came up with... Atlanta Utd FC.
