At least we have two keepers with established runs in the first XI. They both have dodgy moments, but as we all know, a misjudgement further up the pitch is not so glaring; when a keeper does one bad thing, we remember it forever and think , "Nah, we'll have to get another one". Having said that, if anyone would like a nice kitten, I have a huge litter of little darlings which I personally gave birth to at Wembley when Puddy raced practically to the half-way line in the first few minutes - apparently just wanting to join in with the kickabout. are they brown They may not be kittens....

I'm no expert. How badly do cats smell?

The problem though is that it's not just one off howlers, Puddy got away with 2 or 3 before Wembley apart from the Dover goal, likewise Mildenhall was generally poor against Eastleigh & Halifax before he was dropped. Neither goalie last season looked up to the standard of say Etheridge or Logan, or even Mildenhall in our last league season.

Should have gone for Petr Cech.
Typical Higgs: tight fisted.

Could that be because Etheridge and Logan are from higher divisions and better?

Why? How much is he costing us? Here we go. It seems pretty obvious Mildenhall is on fairly high wages. He dropped down for on the championship to come to us. It's so obvious that you don't know really?

Etheridge was playing Championship football last season and has signed for Walsall, was a good keeper here.
I think the current two are competent enough given some of the keepers you find at L2 level, in fact Mildenhall was doing very well last season until the unfortunate errors against Eastleigh and Halifax. Think he'll regain the number 1 spot come August and prove his worth, bit of time off might have done him well.

I think Mildenhall is good enough, and I think Puddy is good enough back up. I don't understand how Puddy ended up starting games for us last season and if he is starting come the first game of this season i'll still be confused. But our defence is good enough anyways so whatevs.

Simple really Puddy did OK when Mildenhall was injured, was unfairly dropped when he weas fit, Mildenhall then had two shockers against Eastleigh & Halifax so Puddy was correctly instated, whilst he got lucky on a few occassions he did nothing to warrent being dropped, then had a shcoker for 45 mins at Wembley!
It seems DC's not as rose tinted as some posters on here as he appears to have reservations about the goalie position.

Anybody who regularly went to away games last season will have seen a very shaky and uninspiring Steve Mildenhall midway through the season. I had gone from previously being confident in our experienced goalkeeper to fearing every high ball into the box. Puddy was unfairly dropped when Mildy recovered from injury, but he was deservedly recalled and then did nothing to warrant being dropped again. He kept clean sheets and, generally, was very good at claiming crosses. Sure he had a few nervous moments, but in general he was a safe pair of hands. I would like another goalkeeper brought in as I don't have trust in Mildy like I used to and Puddy is unproven at FL level, so hopefully DC is able to identify someone he wants and bring him in.

Personally I prefer mildly in goal. He doesn't seem to make me feel uneasy when he is in goal whereas puddy sometimes gets a rush of blood to his head
