Darrell Clarke
"It has been well documented that money is pretty tight at the minute so a positive outcome could be a 'game changer'. We have a competitive squad at the minute but I would also like to make more additions.
"The court case obviously has a massive impact on the playing side of things. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to come to the conclusion that the more money that is spent on the court case means there is less available for players."
Nick Higgs
"No effect whatsoever on the budget"

They are both correct. DC's budget won't decrease as a result of today and any subsequent appeal (NH is correct), but it likely would have increased if it had gone in our favour today (DC is correct).
Unfortunately for us and DC, his budget probably doesn't allow for any more than one or two more people to come in before the season starts.

Let's not have this right now yes? Why not exactly? Before the court case you could of called this specuation, but it seems like a pretty good time to me. I'm bored of the club over spending and losing money every year. Unfortunately, without the crap mismanagement (at board level) and legal fee's that still would of been a decent budget. I want to know how the club is planning to pay for this Wonga loan...

Probably by posting notices in the Toilets at the Mem, just like they did last season, telling us they now need gates of 12000 every game to break even!

Neither is lying.
NH said that it wouldn't have any effect on the budget, and he's telling the truth because they budgeted for the worst case scenario. It's not going to increase or decrease, because this was the outcome they planned for.
DC said that the budget is tight, and that a high court win would result in an increase.
If NH had budgeted expecting a HC win, then things would be different - the playing budget would have decreased. But he didn't, so there's no change.
It's a bit disingenuous, but it's technically true.

As i said yesterday if it was all system go with the UWE I can't see DC being given a massive budget increase as we'd still have to finance the UWE shortfall. Problem now is what happens when we have to re-pay the Wonga loan?
