A year ago a current director said in a public place that the contract was a c0ck up and that Sainsbury's had a get out clause. As he was aware of this I'm sure that Nick Higgs was as well. At this point negotiations should have taken place to try and salvage something not steam head first into legal action with no other ammunition than bad faith. We still wouldn't have a new ground but we would definitely have saved a few hundred grand and might have secured a little bit more from Sainsbury's. As for Higgs lying, well he's not very good at it is he. I/m guessing it wasn't Ed Ware, as he said we were going to "Smash" Sainsbury's in court didn't he?

How's that not doing the club any favours? That's harmless!

How's that not doing the club any favours? That's harmless! Because the majority of people who read the article will probably think "What a bunch of pr*cks", and they won't be referring to the grocer.

You hire a legal team, you expect them to fine check every single detail of a contract, that is what they are for.

Correct and after they have pointed out all of the conditions of the contract you still sign it then you are bound by the terms as we found out in court on Monday. Unfortunately morality does not beat legality in a court of law.

Indeed. Shame we seem to have been given bad advice...

I thought that the wording of the contract was not the issue, but the process of meeting all the conditions set out in the contract. Sainsbury's should have been chasing the problems with planning permission but instead were doing nothing to run the clock down, and by the time BRFC appealed on their behalf it was too late. (Please will someone correct me if I have got this wrong.) Where the legal team seem to be at fault is thinking that once this had happened BRFC could still force Sainsbury's to honour the contract - they should know that the letter of the law holds over issues of "good/bad faith". As Mr Bumble said "... the law is an ass - a idiot".

What an embarrassing thread. I think I'll continue to shop and get petrol at Sainsburys, just like I continue to drink at The Welly. How about a protest at the REAL people at fault? Like our chairman who lied for months when he knew the deal was pretty much dead in the water. Or the legal experts who have offered us such poor advice. Or the rest of the board who have overseen two relegations in 4 years in seen the clubs debt dramatically rise. Might be best to get the priorities right first. Not as embarrassing as the thread the forum fans buy the club out and far more realistic in achieving noticeable action against an organisation

Lots of people will understand why. It's hardly crime of the century. Btw I think it's pointless but I wouldn't think it's harming the club at all.

sainsburys in Stroud has had 3 full trolley loads of refrigerated meat left in its door way this week! all 3 have the "we to can change our mind " flyer left on top! once the meat is taken from the refrigerator it CAN NOT be re sold resulting in the meat to be destroyed....... I know this because a work mates wife works there as store management
