Is it just me or has there been very little advertising of this game? We are ging to see some potentially great players (the next Wiltshire, Walcott etc). Of their 18 man squad, I would expect 4 or 5 to feature in their first team in the next year or so, even if it is the league cup.
The Board always talk about new revenue streams, well why not try and cash in on young kids from Bristol who only "support" Premier teams on the telly. This games gives an opportunity to see some future quality players in the flesh and get to see the Gas. Who knows they may get hooked!
It is up to us to tell workmates, class mates, mates down the pub etc. We need to try and get lots of new faces down the Mem.

Just messaged a few Arsenal fans who I know to let them know about the game Saturday. I advise others to do the same if they know anyone. All adds to the coffers...

Quite right. Too busy talking about the friendly versus the Mangos to promote a game versus one of the biggest teams in the world.

In fairness, I think they have all been quite preoccupied recently.
Also, this is Arsenal kids... Not like we are failing to let anyone we are playing the first team!
Not really that great a draw as far as I am concerned to be honest.
But yes, you would think it might have been mentioned slightly more perhaps.

When we played Liverpool twice in the past (under 18s cup and a friendly against a Liverpool XI) there was quite a few Bristol-based Liverpool fans (lots of kids too). I suspect that'll be the same but Arsenal fans.
Kind of depressing to be honest, adds to club's coffers and I suppose one or two might be 'converted' which I guess is the up side.

Didn't even know about it, is there a fixture list of friendlies anywhere? I couldn't find it on the official site.

I think people just get frustrated (and rightly so) at the lack of marketing skills at the club. Some of it is basics. All these little things add up and contribute to our debts.

In today's modern world, it's possible to really promote things on the cheap - or even for free. The club should be Tweeting Arsenal to mention that there is a friendly (albeit against their kids) on Saturday; there are plenty of Bristol based Arsenal fans who will be gagging for a football fix and intrigued to see the future of their Football Club. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to put the boot in to the Club - I'm fully aware they've been very busy of late with the Sainsburys saga. However, a few Tweets, Facebook updates and emails wouldn't exactly take up too much time and if it gets even one extra person at the game on Saturday, it'll have been worthwhile. We need all the money that we can get and promoting this game a little bit more than we have would surely add another 100 or so on on to the attendance which all adds up £££

Say an average of £10 a ticket that is a £1000. Not including food and drink etc. It is actually a really profitable game when you consider that little or no police will be required.

Fair play to anyone who is interested in this game, and who goes, gives it publicity, etc. Well done. I hope we make some cash out of it, develop some contacts, and most importantly get a game that helps our squad in their pre-season preparation.
Personally I'd prefer to gouge my eyes out with a 196O's Vietnamese punji stick.
the PL is a world away from our football and I don't see much similarity in the sport we know and love, compared to the sport they love to make money out of. In fact the PL has a lot to answer for in terms of the gap between rich and poor getting wider and wider including the disgraceful way lower division youngsters are taken by them, and the pathetic compensation clubs like us get.
It is also harming our game, with one recent youngster saying the u21 football they play in [which is live on TV!] is so slow and unrealistic to League football that it is not good for his development.
I very much doubt we will see the cream of the crop of Arsenal youngsters anyway; any player who is a real hot prospect will already be in and around their main squad.
As for local kids who support Arsenal... I better keep quiet.

My son is a Gooner (sorry) and we will be there together which I'm looking forward to. Hoping to have a few random others with us too to help swell the coffers.

This goes back to how poorly we are organised. Why would the PR people not have half and eye on each thing? They should be pushing things constantly. BUT we are such a shambles that we wont pay for someone to to the job properly. Effin joke. You get what you pay for. I bet you if the club actually paid for some professional help it would more than pay for itself. As it stands we are just dying by a thousand cuts. Would love to see the company org chart - I would probably have to explain what one was to them first though! We are 3 weeks or so from the start of the season - the PR machine should be getting into full swing. The funday is coming up - surely we should be releasing more detail, or following up with further info on whats there. Sneak peaks of the kits? Photos from training with someone in the background wearing the new top? get people talking! kids cometition - turn up with your entry on the day and we will pick a winner at 3:30 - keep parents on site = spend a little more money. First hour, free kids soft drink with every pint? Who is responsible for out marketing? pant poo and dam! Sorry, I'll go now:scared:

Or wait a mintue, maybe you are?! if i was a paid member of staff, or a high profile volunteer, or even someone with a vested interested in pandering to the Board, of course I'd be 1OO% behind it, in a professional manner. Independence gives people a chance to give their true opinions.
