I know its only a friendly BUT last season we were a laughing stock for being a non league team and today we lose to the team we are replacing. I don't accept this only a friendly when you are playing a local non league side. The worrying thing is that our forwards have failed to score in the last three games and today it sounds like Cheltenham created the more chances and deserved to win. I maintain that we are three experienced players short and we have not signed sufficient quality to take the step up. A quality winger and a striker with a scoring record at this level and a central midfielder capable of playing alongside Lines to compete with Mansell are essential and one can only hope that DC will see todays defeat as a signal that we are not going to be able to compete this season on the complete cheap. Sorry DC but we should have a team at this stage capable of easily containing Cheltenham and securing victory. Before anyone asks I did not, thankfully, go today because I sensed what was going to happen and did not want to come away losing to Non League Cheltenham.

We are short of a couple of players. We are also short of cash. We are possibly stuck with what we have so we have to get behind them and hope we have enough to compete.

Don't blame DC (waves finger). His hands are tied by financial mismanagement above.

Yes gashead79 I think you are right that our appropriately silent Chairman has a lot to answer for as clearly there is a reason why DC has not brought in the 4-5 players he clearly said he needed and that was BEFORE Monkhouse,Balanta and Trotman decided not to sign. I am sorry but I can never accept losing a friendly to a non league team when we put out the best available team.

Neither can I although I would be ok with it we clearly dominated all aspects of the game apart from goals scored. If the shoe was on the other foot, we would be quite pleased with beating a team from a league above and them having 4 players out wouldn't even register... unless it was 4 from one position!

They must be nailed on for 100+ points...

Were we not the better team against Reading and lost. Under Buckle we looked great in pre season. Why do we have this every year? The Internet and forums are not good for football. Let's wait and see, I garuntee by Xmas the theories will be much changed. The proof is only in the puddings and nowhere else.

So you weren't even there?
What a pathetic OTT post from you once again Steve.
I have to assume you are bipolar, because I've never come across a poster who's opinion fluctuates as quickly and extremely as yours.
1 win and we are genuine world beaters - DC is a tactical genius, we have the best squad in the division, we can beat anyone on our day.
1 defeat and DC doesn't know what he's doing, our squad is poor and we're in for a long, tough season.
Frankly it's almost impossible to take what you say seriously.

This Our budget was massively reduced last year, and from what I can see has only been increased by whatever Lines is on. I'm all for spending within our means, but not if it means at a massive shortfall because those above can't stop watering money down the drain, and have no clue how to generate it. Some of the things I hear about our current board make me dispair, not all can be plastered on the internet, unfortunately.

I'm trying to reassure myself with the good ol ''its just a pre-season friendly and it's not about results''.

Nobody knows the team instructions, as has been said already, they may have been told to do 70% and avoid injury and just get match fit. I don't know if this is true but nobody knows if it's not.

Laughing stock? It's a pre-season friendly! We did insane in pre-season under Buckle but look how that turned out! It's not a reflection on the upcoming season.
