I've said it time and time again. The bar we let away fans in is an embarrassment. A lick of paint and new carpets would make a huge difference. It's always all or nothing it seems. I don't usually go any further than the blackthorne end and after seeing the facilities I don't think it's worth paying the extra few quid to stand/sit else where. I like the south stand.

Not a bad day out at all. Weather didn't help but the players all seemed friendly enough and plenty to see and do. The only thing im going to moan about is how run down the stadium is!! I know we're after a new one but I think a little touching up would go a long way. I went and had a look at the directors box and was surprised to see all the paint peeling off the balustrades the chairs were old and tatty and the tables were scratched and old. TV's were 10 years out of date the list goes on and on. Evan as you walk through the door the door itself is all scratched and peeling! This is suppose to be the finest seat in the house!! Last little moan - Either rip that tent down and build a proper stand or at least extend it all the way along!!! and to think people want to stay at this sh@t tip...

Agree with the rest though.

I don't want to stay, but we clearly aren't going anywhere anytime soon. If they're really that skint they could just buy some paint and ask for volunteers. I'd happily give them a few hours of my time.

Shes a rickety old girl but the views not bad if you sit far enough back. Avoid the front as the rain runs off the roof and behind the gutter instead of into it. Apart from that whats not to like!?

Maybe its too much for one man? zero budget? The electrical maintenance at the mem is astronomical on an annual basis. Add to that other M&E issues such as an ageing heating/water system in the West Stand, crap pressure and system on the East side, trust me the list is endless and an army of tradesmen would struggle to bring it up to any standard. I share your frustrations though but believe me the bits you see on match/fun days are only half the issue.

If they had a "paint the Mem blue" day where fans bring a can of paint and offer a days labour to repair the Mem I'm sure plenty would do it. All they need to do is set up a web page with a list of paint needed and an allocated room people could put their name to I'm sure it could happen.

I've always thought the terrace bars would look so much better painted blue.

This has been mooted before and you would think enough people could be got together but.... there are issues with insurances etc ladders and an old football stadium don't mix well. Im sure there would be ways around this though, disclaimers maybe?

How many people would you need? 30 or 40?? More? All could be done with little more than a set of steps.

Cleaning out gutters, repairing roofs and such like presents a different risk element to painting internally obviously.

Ooh, thinking aloud, how about the FFSC paid for a decorator to paint the toilets around the ground or one of the bars or the porta cabins.
A pro would have his own kit and insurance.
Maybe the club could announce in the programme what We had done?

H&S would not allow it, nice idea but the stupid rules we all have to work under pretty much wont allow any non trade workers mooching about the place.
