I've just heard the strangest news on our new physio. Apparently he does not hold the correct certificates to work in the Football league and so is unable to go on the pitch on match days. The club wil use a doctor at the moment.
what wasn't clear is if the club knew this before appointing him or an oversight

Is it just me, or does it sometimes seem as if the people who run our club don't have a f'in clue what they're doing?

Not exactly a huge problem, he may be a very good physio!
Just means he has to take the badges!

HAHAHAHA. This is actually hilarious!
Can see it now...
Lockyer goes down with a nasty looking head injury.
Nick Day: "Ladies and gentlemen, if there a trained physio in the stadium, please contact the nearest steward."

Whilst 90% of the job may be off the pitch, surely the first part of the job is a crucial part of it? I'm off to google it now, but I wonder how many clubs have a physio who can't go on the pitch...?

I think the new guy is more than just a bucket & sponge man.
I think he devises training programmes and works on the player fitness.
He did a similar thing at Kiddie...

DC doesn't want a physio to replace Kitey, he wants to replace the physio role with a new one. This is likely the cause of the hold up. DC said this at his Q&A.

DC doesn't want a physio to replace Kitey, he wants to replace the physio role with a new one. This is likely the cause of the hold up. DC said this at his Q&A. Correct-nothing to see here as it was an entirely deliberate decision The point about qualifications isn't about who runs on the pitch, its about all clubs having to have people with a specific one attached to the club, and that technicality is being sorted. DC wanted a more rounded fitness person as the head of department hence the man from Kiddie ie someone who can do more than tend to immediate and obvious issues and consider the overall fitness regime and arrangements. He pointed to the fact that Kitey having to be tied to the training field meant that players recovering from injury too often had to be sent to a local gym to recover on their own. He said having been a player himself that the temptations of a gym and its cafe would be a constant distraction and even the most diligent would be tempted and he wanted all players properly supervised whether its on the field or off it. Having a less experienced spongeman and a fully qualified sports therapist was he felt the way to go, and to that end the club had been using people from UWE to cover training meaning our new man can over see rehab and other longer term issues as well as overall individual fitness regimes.

I think we need to get used to the fact that DC has a lot of new ideas, he is thinking outside the box, we need to catch up a bit. DC is a modern manager

Assuming this is true isn't once again the lack of communication between the club and the fans not helping? Perhaps somebody could have explained that the match day "sponge man" won't be the new physio? Although a therapist doesn't sound like a physiotherapist to me so who's going to treat the injured players, on & off the pitch?
