www.newport-county.co.uk/news/article/looking-at...bristol-rovers-2542628.aspx'Prediction: The objective for Bristol Rovers will be to try and survive their season back in the football league. I believe that they will struggle early on in the season but gradually find their feet in the division and perhaps secure their safety. A relegation battle will almost certainly be on the cards for the majority of the season and every game will matter for the pirates as they will constantly be looking over their shoulders at the bottom two. Prediction: 20th– 24th'

Yes, because recent history suggests that those who go up from the Conference struggle... what a tit

Is that the recent history that also suggests that teams don't bounce straight back from the Conference? if so, recent history means nothing.

That's just regurgitation of every season before we went down that's not a prediction.

Whatever happens, at least we don't live in Newport.

Went on the Accrington forum and amazingly they have a thread on what the top 7 will look like and lots of the posts have us in top 3 and most others have us in the top 7, in the play offs. Think Newport should concentrate on themselves, looks like it will be a struggle.

I think a top 7 finish is a bit beyond the current squad ,my feeling is lower mid table. The squad is weaker than last season having lost Monkhouse and Trotman, both players with league experience and replaced them with an injury prone ex Torquay winger,a winger who hasn't played for a couple of years and an untested non league defender, just my impression but I think we will struggle

Trouble is most betting odds and other teams views probably based on the size of our crowd and they see us as a bigger club than perhaps we currently are. If we can put out our strongest team consistently through the season we could do well. At the moment most people, me included, are waiting for the important matches to start, then we can start to have a better idea of how we will do. In this pre-season we are all just predicting based on signings which may or may not be good. Whilst we have lost Monkey and Trotman, the signing of Lines could be the best in this league IMO.and I think our midfield IS stronger than last season and our defence is as good with Clarke being a good signing and Leadbitter having had an excellent pre-season. Said it before but I think all the signings have been made with a view to playing and making us a better team. I believe other teams have been constructing squads whereas DC knowing how tight budget is has not been making squad but only signing players who will play regularly. He will use the 3/4 youngsters who have played in friendlies to make up the squad which I think is a good thing. They have to be given chance. The only thing is it makes us vulnerable to injuries and suspensions etc. and makes us very nervous!! The new players will have to play to DC system and be flexible enough to change mid match. I like the way he approaches new signings. But I guess we will have to wait and see what it looks like in a weeks time. Less than a week to go now. And dare I say it but after all the nervousness of the last few seasons a comfortable mid-table position isn't the worse case scenario. It would represent solid improvement and give DC a chance to see how good our youngsters are. UTG!!

imo are current squad could possibly be floating around the relegation zone this season, we have a lot of unproven players at this level and 3 of the back 4 who took us down last time, were weak in the goal keeping department and have not really strengthened on last seasons squad who had the fight but not the quality, having the fight will probably keep us safe but the quality for me just isnt there for the promotion push the chairman was talking about.

This is the kind of negativity that will see us struggle this season. Ignoring all the rubbish with the stadium, we have a tight nit team which has just come off of a promotion (and one we achieved whilst hardly loosing a game) so still have momentum on our side, We have signed both Lines and Montano who both definitely have class and quality about them and we seem to have a really nice team spirit about the place. Were as I agree that we probably don't have the squad depth to run away with the title this season (though being the optimist and die hard fan I am, i'll keep believing we can until we can't) to get all pessimistic and state we'll definitely be floating around the relegation zone is absurd!

How can MY OPINION make us struggle on the pitch this season? please explain...
Also i back my team vocally and positivly week in week out at the stadium, by airing my view on the forum will not effect anything.
If you think this squad is capable of the expectations set by the manager and chairman of winning promotion you need to take off those raybans with blue glass in because this squad with 2-3 injuries is nowhere near good enough and we will get injuries.
My view a side i will back DC and the team all season no matter what, dont rubbish my opinion pal.

People, please remember that in our relegation season we had one of the best defences in the league. Fifteen clean sheets. It was the quality of our forward play that sent us down not the defence. We have a hungry side and a hungry manager. We have our Rovers back. Let's get behind them.

It would represent solid improvement and give DC a chance to see how good our youngsters are. UTG!! I think this is a decent assessment of our situation. If we can stay relatively injury free I think we could do quite well - maybe pushing for the playoffs. The spirit and togetherness in the camp seems good and this makes a big difference to results especially when we are up against it - I think this could be a major factor in us having a good season. Easter and Sinclair will be like new signings if they can stay fit - both are very capable of making a significant impact in league 2. Lines is a key player who should stand out in league 2 and a fit and stable back 4 will make us a difficult team to score against while we have goals in the midfield and up front. The goalkeeper position is a bit of a concern and I hope Mildenhall can regain his confidence and return to form. I just hope the fans remain patient while we adapt back to playing stronger teams every week - no part time teams so we will have less of an advantage with fitness to get us through close games.
