This guy has sparked debate in are house for about 9 months. The best I have seen from him and olly clark was there partnership in front of the back 4 under a negative defensive ward. I think he's a good player but don't really know his role. I see him being a centre back but he is 4th choice behind tother Clarke, parkes and macca. Didn't enjoy him at right back or his brief spell in midfield last season and v wba he offered very little at left back. I can only see him being a cover player this season. Ditto olly Clarke. Where would you put them this season. Another good display by leadbetter v Wba. He has seriously improved

Gives his all for us every time he comes out, despite often being played in the wrong position. Think he's a huge asset and we're about his natural level, unlike say Parkes or Brown who could play higher.

His role is defensive utility player.
It's his biggest strength and his biggest weakness.
He'd still be the first player in my squad though.

He's like a blank tile in scrabble.

Lockyer is a hero to me, future CB lynch pin and head speach maker. Really want olly to have a breakthrough season, he seems a little bit lightweight for L2 sometimes but has a fantastic shot on him. Hopefully get a couple more youth in the squad soon to push them.

well dc picked him ahead of anyone at right-back last season so it will be interesting to see who gets the nod v northampton Hearing DC's interview a couple of weeks ago, it sounds like Leadbitter is a front runner for the right back slot and rightly so IMO. I think Lockyer was played there last season as we needed that bit of steel about us. It's not about pretty football in the conference. Leadbitter looks very promising, looking forward to him this season. Lockyer is still going to be a key member of the squad though. In fact he is a massive player as he can fit in plenty of positions so we always have cover at least.

He works his, his a gashead, gives his all so we obviously would all love for him to make it. I think if we are to make progress though then we will have to let him go somewhere down the line.

Nobody has answered the question where they'd play him? Assuming everybody's fit it seems RB is the only option but is he really better their than Leadbitter? Also how can Leadbitter progress if he never starts?
Whilst TL may make a good CB he looks far too lightweight at present, plus his distribution is no better than McChrystal's?
He's a player I like but finding his best position is a difficult one.

Nobody has answered the question where they'd play him? I don't think there's anything wrong with not starting him if everyone is fit and on form. If we have injuries then he can go anywhere along the back line, or even central mid. Injuries are inevitable, so it's not like he will not get games. There's an argument he won't progress if he can't tie down a specific position, and he'd therefore be a victim of his own versatility, and I guess that would be unfortunate. As for Clarke, we should just play a circular formation, where Clarke stands 40 yards from goal and everyone just gives the ball to him and shouts 'shoot.'

Clarke 's a different issue as he needs to progress this season, or follow the usual route to Bath City!

If Browner is fit I expect Tom will start next Saturday at right back with Leadbitter sat on the bench.

Brown also provides an option down the left. Already more attacking than last year. Then there's Gos aswell. If TL plays it allows LB to be more adventurous.

It really worries me that Leadbitter plays in most of the friendlies ,the same as Clarke and then Lockyer just comes in at right back first game. We should have signed a left back for competition for Browner. I see this season as very much playing on the cheap with a budget that is reduced beyond recognition or are we still plagued with the few players on ridiculous wages using up the majority of the budget. Our silent Chairman hides a thousand sins!!!

I wouldn't have Ollie Clarke anywhere near the first team as he simply doesn't do anything.
Lockyer, on the other hand, is a good young player and DC rates him very highly. For that reason he will always start when he is fit, but his problem is that he hasn't cemented his place in any one position.
Personally I think he's better at centre half, but both J. Clarke and Parkes have performed well there thus far. It will be interesting to see what DC chooses to do.

I can't see we need competition for LB just to sit on the bench all season, as Greenslade/TL/Clarke can cover. TBH if we sign a decent RW this week I can't see what to complain about, a decent striker wouldn't go a miss but surely we have to give Easter & co a chance? I think certain posters are being unnecessary negative on the playing front, as DC seems to have signed all the players he promised he would if he signs a winger.

I'd personally give Mildenhall & Puddy a chance first plus we lost their possible replacement to injury. I guess we'll soon know if they aren't up to the task and can then get in a replacement, although my worry is not scoring rather than conceding goals.
