No contest IMHO. Easter did so well in his short time on the pitch, held the ball up superbly and hardly wasted a pass. Matty you can learn from this guy. Apparently Easter isn't fully fit yet! Ellis and Jermaine will be a real handful this year I reckon.

I prefer Easter to Taylor, and I don't ever wanna see them play together again, but I have to say when it was reversed and it was Taylor coming on for Easter against Birmingham he made a massive impact and looked the better of the 2, the problem I see tho is Taylor misses a lot of chances, but Easter doesn't even seem to get into positions to get many chances, they both contribute a lot to our game play but I don't think either will score many goals

Easter has more experience which is evident at times but Taylor gets in better scoring positions. I have got fed up with this bandwagon of people giving Taylor stick. Pretty sure Easter has only scored 1 goal since he's been here but because he did well in this league 10 years ago nobody will jump on his back. That's not a criticism but I really don't think there is much between the two.

I'm hopeful Easter will be a great forward for us. However I think it's a bit early to be putting him above MT yet - he simply hasn't done enough IMO. MT is rightly criticised for missing chances, but he hit 20+ goals all the same last season and we can't rely solely on Ellis for goals up front. Will Easter get 20? I hope so. He looked good on Sat, but I did feel he was a tad sluggish. He doesn't have that nimble quickness of MT, which does cause defenders problems, as does his close control. Easter will get match fit and quicker I expect. I'm glad we've got the choice though.

Taylor for me over Easter. The criticism he gets is way over the top and based only on the fact he misses chances. Couple of things for me from that is that he is constantly making those chances and putting himself in the position to score (or miss!), also if he was as clinical as we'd all like him to be, there'd be no chance he'd be playing for Rovers. Quality, intelligent player. Should start every game imho

I started this thread to compare the two not to be critical of MT. Darrell thinks Easter is not match fit and for me he is improving all the time. I think Taylor can learn from him especially his hold up play and bringing other players in, Easter is strong on the ball and that's something that Taylor needs to improve on IMO.

Well your opening sentence of "No contest IMHO" was never going to go down too well at a time when everyone seems to be jumping on Taylor's back.

I take your point that many fans are over sensitive about any implied criticism of Taylor, but my point was Easter is good not Taylor is bad. I have never been a major critic of Taylor because if he took his chances he wouldn't be with us. I just think Easter will be a major asset to us if he avoids injury and keeps match fit.

Ok fair enough. Obviously you are not one of them. I would just hate for another decent player to be hounded out of the club yet go on to do better things elsewhere.

Very happy that atm we can perm two from three with, imo, total confidence. Wasn't long ago that we had four strikers of which you wouldn't want to start any of them, particularly.
