I'm supposed to be working from home this afternoon but i have got distracted by the letters W,D, and L........and this is what i have come up with...
Based on last season and this season league/conf games only....(excluding Wemberleeeeeeee)
DLLWDWLWWWWWDDDDLWDDDWWDDWWWDWDDWWWWWLDWDWWWDWWWLWW
51 Games = W28, D17, L6 101 points out of possible 153 average of 1.51 pts per game Last 44 games = W26, D15, L3 Last 34 games = W21, D11, L2 Last 13 Games = W9, D3, L1
Home (25 games) W17, D5, L3 Away (26 games) W11, D12, L3
Away - 22 games unbeaten Home (last 13) W10, D1, L2
CONCLUSIONS: 1. Feck me its been awesome 2. DC is brilliant 3. I have too much time on my hands 4. Cut it whatever way you like but its all good and long may it continue

Great analysis. I agree - awesome stuff. Great leadership by DC. It's beyond any thought we would have had after the first three DLL.

6 defeats in 51 league games speaks for it's self. It would be interesting to know if there is a better 50 game period in the last 50 years when it comes to W,D & L's.

I would have liked to have kept our entire squad including loans from last season and just added Clarke if we'd done that I really think we'd be looking at automatic promotion but I still think we can finish in the top 7 if the new wingers settle in and we keep key players fit. It's been a great year to be a gashead and we should all be very proud of our squad , all of them.

Haven't we only lost Dawson, Trotman, Balanta & Monkhouse, given only Balanta has found a league club, I'm not sure they are that great a loss? Potentially Clark & the goalie are superior players to those we've released.

Dawson LDV and monk house I would have liked to sign. I really rate Dawson and LDV and think they would have really helped us win promotion. Not saying we can't do it without them but we would have been stronger with them. The sh|t have just gone 2-0 down . Happy days !!

I think your right, I got it wrong. It's 1.98 pts per game. Even better.

After all those stats , some people still think he's clueless and feel the need to slag off the players when they are not 'on' their game, maybe we should be a little more patient. UTG

UTG Yep people on the other forum still not convinced by the clueless one and feel he should never have got the chance to manage us after taking us down and it's only a matter of time before he is found out in League football - and don't get me started on his lack of contacts outside of Salisbury ! Pathetic !!!!

Another stat is 'V' festival looming.Last year during this ,which is near me ,our players travelled up on the day of the game to Altrincham and made it on time despite the traffic queues the Festival created.Dreadful performance and probably Ryan Brunt's last match for us.Think we have come a long way since then.Good 12 months for DC but other than going to an awful ground at Braintree ,Altrincham for me was the lowest point of last season.

As LDV & Dawson were never at the club together I doubt we were ever going to sign them both, also as LDV as signed for a Div 1 side I doubt we were ever in the hunt of his signature. Given that Dawson & Monkhouse are both stuck in the Conference hopefully DC can sign better Div 1 players, assuming NH gives him the finances, another 7,000+ gate on Saturday may convince NH/TW to open the purse strings.

Strange as it sounds I think that game and the journey there were a blessing in disguise as it meant that they started staying overnight again at away games.

In terms of Rovers or just in general? Both would be interesting to be fair. Well just off the top of my head, Arsenal went 49 games unbeaten, and also Chelsea from 2004/5-05/06 only lost once in about 60 odd games. I am sure there are many others. Good form though it is.

6 defeats in 51 league games speaks for it's self. It would be interesting to know if there is a better 50 game period in the last 50 years when it comes to W,D & L's. It got me thinking that the only recent period to compare would probably encompass the '89/'90 season where we only lost 5 games (P46 W26 D15 L5). The previous season we made the play off final, which at the time was over 2 legs, so using the OP's method we'd use all 4 games (2-legged semi and final). Rovers won 2, drew 1 and lost 1 of those games. Our last game of the '89/'90 league season before the play-offs was a 0-0 draw, we lost the previous game to Port Vale so the sequence can't be extended any further. So taking those 51 games combined, the record was: P51 W28 D17 L6 We lost the first game of the 90/91 season away to Leicester, so the run couldn't be extended in this direction either, so this is remarkably, exactly the same as the current sequence! Yes, I was bored too..... The website below is amazing - it has our results going back to 1899/90! www.11v11.com/teams/bristol-rovers/tab/matches/season/1989
