Just been reading the league two forum and came across this...
"Remember, McAnuff earns £7k a week with us and Lowry £4k."
£7k a week in league two?!?! Surely not?

Thought this was going to be a religious thread..... Those contracts are a hangover from them trying to get promoted to the Championship the season before last. They managed to off load several players on similar or more money

We are never told what our players actually earn but Parkes and Harrison signed their contracts in 2013 under Ward when we were paying players good wages. Lines must be being paid relatively well considering that he had a year left on his contract at Port Vale. Outside of the current first eleven, McChrystal and Mildenhall signed 2-year contracts in 2013 and both successfully triggered extension clauses last season, if their agents negotiated anything less than the same wage for the extension then they should look for a new career!

Parkes & Harrison are hardly senior players so I doubt are on big money? We've no idea if PV are contributing towards Lines remaining 1 year deal. So that just leaves McChrystal & Mildenhall, the latter having been told he's welcome to leave, the former out injured and perhaps could face the same fate when he returns given that Clarke looks like his ideal replacement

I can remember talking to Tom Parkes at a Rovers do and he mentioned that he got fined a weeks wages for something. Lennie Lawance went with him to the hearing and he then mentioned later in the conversation that it cost him a bout £1500 quid including costs. I would hazard a guess he's on at least £1000 a week. Also Harrision is on very good money, person would reveal the actual amount, but the club admits they got it wrong with him and there should have more performance related clauses and a lesser basic with shorted duration!
That's what I've gleaned over the last 12-18 months.
The yoof used to get a small basic, then bonus for making the match day squad, bound for appearing as a sub, bonus for making the starting 11, team winning bonus and various other clauses.... This stopped when there was a management change. This was how it was some 15 years ago mind!

With the mad amount of money going round in the championship this summer it's only going to be a matter of time before these problems flow down hill. Especially if we get promoted again in the near future.

That contract could easily have ruined his career and at one stage I thought it might.

Whilst £50K sounds a lot in the real world in football terms it's probably average for Div 2, our overall wage bill was probably somewhere between £750K to £1m last season, if so, around £50K was the average salary we paid rather than the highest?

I'm sure I read somewhere that Stu Sinclair was on £650 a week.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Stu Sinclair was on £650 a week. Rumour has it the club pay him £5 for every mile he runs.
No wonder he never stops!!

I don't think that all of our lads are necessarily the poor relation that everyone thinks. It was made quite clear at the outset of last season that DC believed in rewarding success and that the Rovers wages were bonus geared. Well they won promotion, gates were better than anticipated and the players who were on the pitch week in week out will have had bonuses for appearances too. It will be interesting to see the annual accounts to see just how much was paid out in bonuses.

Reference to Stu Sinclairs Goal Bonus in the post match (Luton) interview with Matty Taylor - though him suggesting SS might buy him something in Nandos suggests its probably not Lottery Winner Territory!

Isn't the most we ever ever get in the accounts is reference to wages paid by the club, we don't even get it narrowed down to the split between staff/players wages, let alone bonus payments?

Would any other business tell their customers what they pay their staff?

Well, we too have a player on £7k a week. We do? Do no believe that for one minute! There is only one player that could be and that is Easter and no I don't believe that either.
I am sure Easter gets a decent wage but nowhere near that
