I have been in total denial that Rovers were ever in the conference and have convinced myself that it was all just a bad dream and then I read this... It's lies lies all lies. I'm with you royalblue. I did the 'Bobby Ewing stepping out of the shower' routine (for those of a certain age). I'd rather spend a year in the Conference than go to my shower and find nobbygas in it.

I really hope Grimsby turn it round, I do feel for their fans having been stuck in that league for so long. Grimsby, Wrexham, Tranmere, Lincoln are all clubs that should be in the football league, and it's such a shame to see clubs like FGR and Eastleigh, who lets face it, have pitiful fanbases, outgunning those clubs because of their sugar daddy chairmen using their clubs as their own personal plaything. Call me controversial but I genuinely hope FGR and Eastleigh fail again, and I hope Fleetwood and Crawley slide back down from whence they came as well. The football league would be far richer for having better supported clubs in it. I'd be interested to hear how others view this as well. P.S. Definitely time to have 3 up from the Conference IMO. I get what you mean, but there are reasons that teams like that are down there in the first place, as we were. I have a mate who supports Newcastle and he really annoys me when he says that Newcastle deserve to be in the Prem. I enjoy seeing teams like Swansea and Bournemouth up there and no club should have a divine right to stay where they are. Its a sort of arrogance to expect that a large fanbase is enough to make up for years of mediocre performances. Its all a matter of perspective I guess. Agree with the 3 up though. I completely agree that seeing Swansea and Bournemouth in the Prem is refreshing, but I might be wrong however in seeing these clubs as being there on merit due to the fantastic approach they've taken in getting there, by recruiting managers and players wisely, and playing superb football. FGR and Eastleigh however, simply buy buy buy their way to success, not too dis-similarly to Man City, who also peeve me off I suppose it's more the fans that I feel for regarding Grimsby/Tranmere etc, who do not deserve their lot, although the clubs have messed up for sure.

Whilst I agree with your sentiment, we have basically done the same thing....whilst not necessarily 'buy buy buy', it's at least 'over-pay, over-pay, over-pay'. Finally it seems we've learnt our lesson although we'll have to wait to the next set of accounts to find out. Just bear in mind anyone looking in from the outside wouldn't necessarily group us with FGR and Eastleigh based on history, but probably would based on our expenditure...

I actually disagree with that, we haven't spent majorly beyond our means to get out of the Conference. I think we were led to believe that our budget was actually less than FGR and Eastleigh, yet our attendances were 5-6 times bigger on average. I understand that no club has any divine right to compete at a level simply because their fanbase is big, which is why I love that Swansea and Bournemouth are giving a good account of themselves in the Premier League. However, I cannot stand when clubs climb the ladder for no reason other than the fact that they whip the chequebook out, despite not warranting that with their earning potential through attendances.
