Playing again today. I remember last season the games in August to October coming round thick and fast. Oh and Grimsby loosing again with fgr looking good for maintaining their 100% record. Thank the football gods for that Wembley win.

If FGR carry on playing like this then we could be up against them again next season.

Yeah, but any club that cares about the Football League Trophy is grateful, because (unless you lose to Bath in the First Round) it can take up several Saturdays in the Spring...that's why Conference fixtures are 'Autumn-heavy'...

Dropped two points at Weston-super-Mare...deserve to finish bottom for that!* (*but in all seriousness, hope they can continue to win 6 out of every 7 games, good luck to them!)

Talking of the Conference, Torquay played for eighty minutes against 10 men on Saturday, with Spiess in goal, and managed to lose three-nil. There but for the grace of god...
(istr one of Spiess' glaring errors for us was against Torquay?)

Paul Hurst has to be getting worried for his position at Grimsby after today...
Thank god we are out of it. Tranmere started with some optimism, and now find themselves 10 points off automatic promotion already. Aiming for the lottery of the playoffs when the single (time to change it) auto place is slipping away would be a horrible feeling.
Top two both small clubs splashing the cash. Shame

I really hope Grimsby turn it round, I do feel for their fans having been stuck in that league for so long.
Grimsby, Wrexham, Tranmere, Lincoln are all clubs that should be in the football league, and it's such a shame to see clubs like FGR and Eastleigh, who lets face it, have pitiful fanbases, outgunning those clubs because of their sugar daddy chairmen using their clubs as their own personal plaything.
Call me controversial but I genuinely hope FGR and Eastleigh fail again, and I hope Fleetwood and Crawley slide back down from whence they came as well. The football league would be far richer for having better supported clubs in it.
I'd be interested to hear how others view this as well.
P.S. Definitely time to have 3 up from the Conference IMO.

But we had a new squad that was gelling, and it cost us the league. They have continuity, momentum from a great finish to last season (penalties excluded) and some decent new signings. When you have top of the table form for the second half of the previous season, you don't expect to be 13 points adrift 7 games into the next. Also, pretty sure Barnet hadn't won 7/7? By that time most people on here were more concerned with staying up and the playoffs was a pipe dream.

I have been in total denial that Rovers were ever in the conference and have convinced myself that it was all just a bad dream and then I read this... It's lies lies all lies.

At Orient one of the club officials said "welcome back to the League" at the turnstiles. Too right, I still feel like a drowning man clinging to the League 2 life raft, never again. Looking at Grimsby's position you've got to feel sorry for their fans. Hope they go back up soon. Halifax are in a terrible way as well - been out of the league for a long time as well. Like them if only because of the away day video some of their fans posted after they attended our Wembley play-off, very funny (and they supported us as well).

By definition aren't all non league clubs( not including former football league clubs) small with a small fan base ? if any of these clubs want to compete at the top end of the conference they have to splash the cash surely . I think it's a shame that Cornwall hasn't got a league side and thought it was great when a few years ago Truro City were having a go until their backer pulled out. is it not possible to grow a club , it's fan base and stadium to league standards or should it be a closed shop then ?

I get what you mean, but there are reasons that teams like that are down there in the first place, as we were. I have a mate who supports Newcastle and he really annoys me when he says that Newcastle deserve to be in the Prem. I enjoy seeing teams like Swansea and Bournemouth up there and no club should have a divine right to stay where they are. Its a sort of arrogance to expect that a large fanbase is enough to make up for years of mediocre performances. Its all a matter of perspective I guess. Agree with the 3 up though.

I do wonder where we'd be now if we'd lost the penalty shoot-out in May. I imagine with a reduced budget we may have suffered, although DC doesn't seem to have much money to play with in L2. Who would we not have in the squad now? Maybe most of those who we kept on from 2013-14, since we couldn't afford them? DC would have to really milk the Salisbury squad dry, unless he's done that already. I'm guessing crowds would be down, but still around the 5,000 level for now.
