Is Lee Sawyer related to Gary then? Good spot, just testing. Gary has got a brother but I'm not sure his name is Lee. According to this Lee Sawyer is a proper nasty piece of work, whereas Gary was just lazy and sh*te.

Showing my age but my heroes were:
Alfie Biggs Harold Jarman Bobby Jones Alan Warboys Bruce Bannister Jim Eadie Phil Roberts Frankie Prince Gordon Fearnley Carl Gilbert Stuart Taylor
All in no particular order but think Harold is my number 1 if only for my North Enclosure days....

How about miah dennahy ! For me any player that has scored against the s'teds, one of the best was Gary Smarts goal away to the teds after they outplayed us for about 85 mins it was such a great feeling to see his 25 yarder burst the back of their net!

I always had a soft spot for Paul Nixon - fantastic (if erratic) talent and I recall a fabulous 'on a sixpence' curler into the top corner one match (vs Port Vale, I think). I guess he never really fitted in with the Francis ethos overall.
Ian Alexander was always brilliant. Someone mentioned Vaughan Jones epitomising the Twerton Spirit but personally I'd say Jocky was the man, IMO.

Nick culkin was a favourite of mine I think it was when he came out with a motorbike helmet on, which at 12 I thought was hilarious. Favourite all time is astafjevs although there were many I loved watching. Ronnie mauge, Wally, Roberts, cureton, foster, lambert, Ollie, etc etc

I'd forgotten that he was part of the promotion squad, but remember him as a being a decent player.

Surprised that "ooh aah Jonny Taylor" hasn't got a mention. Never forget him sliding in at the far post to score a last minute winner at Brentford. Followed by s bow to the gas going mental.

Craig Hinton-just a funny bloke Aaron lescott- always underrated imo Ben Hunt- loved laughing at how bad he was and his stupid run. Nathan blissett-hilarious! Out of control kicks to people's heads make it look more like a karate match than a football match. Do you remember that away game at Walsall? Lescott was on fire everybody just stood there with jaws gaping!

If I recall there was some issue with him going to his brother's wedding in New Zealand rather than playing that weekend...

He was a Canadian international. He was a centre half though I think, signed around 95ish. Ian Wright was English, iirc. Ian McClean was the Canadian international we had, from around the same time.

Andy Gurney for sliding in the mud on his bum after scoring a worldie at Twerton. A lot of the Twerton lot from the early to mid 90's have a place in my heart because that was when I fell in love with the Gas. Special mentions to Gareth Taylor, Paul Miller, Archie, Sterling, Browning , Channing and of course, Stewie. channing had a gambling habit and no one left their valuables lying around
