Police have opened criminal proceedings against FIFA president Sepp Blatter.
Mr Blatter is suspected of "criminal mismanagement or misappropriation", the Swiss Attorney General revealed.
He was interviewed by Swiss police today and his office was searched and data seized.
He is suspected of making a "disloyal payment" of two million Swiss francs to UEFA president Michel Platini.

All over something that happened in 2005? I know the bloke is a criminal but it looks like they've literally arrested him for the only thing they had on him?

Making a disloyal payment to Platini. Whatever that is, presumably there must be a parallel offence of accepting a disloyal payment? Msr Platini, one step forward please.

Find one thing, convict him on that thing....more things then come into play... It will do for a start, but will he still insist on remaining in charge untill he's actually convicted.

At which point it proves FIFA is unfit for purpose, and maybe those FAs who agree with our FA might start to think about leaving it and starting afresh...

FIFA scandal is a bit like a red card in a game, you don't really want it but it adds something to the spice of life.

But he and his kind are a part of an Establishment that has a hell of a lot to answer for ... Certainly in terms of telling all and sundry that austerity, for example, is the only way.
