Amazing what results you get when play with creative players.
Both strikers score and a clean sheet.
A leader of men is McChrystal and great to see him back.
Well done DC now keep the same side for Saturday please.

Well done DC now keep the same side for Saturday please. DC does his homework and picks his players for each specific opponents. So no guarantee he will keep it the same.

It just goes to show how difficult this manager lark is.
Bananarama suggests we should leave Lines out, he gets slaughtered for it, he's proved right. For one game at least
Many say we must drop Matteee, but DC plays him, and he scores.
Many others say we must play Harrison, DC leaves him on the bench and we win.

It's funny really, JoeB posts and it always seems to be an attack on Lines or eluding to his dislike of Lines.
But actually, if you take this post in isolation and forget about the constant Lines bashing, he is spot on. Lines was never the issue - creativity was.
And whilst I wasn't there tonight, it's obvious to me from what I have seen that Bodin and Gosling are our two most creative players. They started, we scored goals.
Lines could have played in place of Mansell or Sinclair and I think we would've seen the same result. It was the injection of 2 playmakers that has been the difference imo (and again, that's without being there, so I await the views of those who travelled).

My main beef all along is that Lines has never been and is never likely to be creative. He wasn't when he was with us originally and hasn't been since his return. This meant we were providing our forwards with nothing.
So, given he isn't creative why in gods name did we sign him and I am becoming convinced daily that he wasn't a DC signing.

Very brave decision by DC in terms of team selection, had Leadbitter not failed his fitness test I suspect we would have had a different formation but I think DC would have still changed Macca for Parkes, Mansell for Lines and started Taylor over Harrison. Parkes, Lines and Harrison have all been poor in recent weeks BUT all three are good players and are just having a difficult spell, I think all three apear to have a bit of an attitude/motivational problem from time to time and they may all benefit from being left out, a kick up the backside. We are all entitled to our opinions but I think Lines is a good player and I think DC wanted to sign him but he just needs to get his motivation and then find his form. I am delighted we scored 3 and won but let's keep a little perspective Hartlepool were sh**e, we were very dominant against a poor Yeovil side and even Luton with the same 3 players in the team! Peoples form will come & go, they have been poor and deserve to be dropped hopefully they will come back stronger ....... Another 3 points Saturday please

By all accounts, Hartlepool were poor last night, so the changes may not necessarily have been wholly responsible for the success last night.
Well done though to our lads last night

Well I am glad we signed Linesey because without any doubt at all we would still be in the Conference if we hadn't! Just an opinion but still think he is one of our most valuable players.
Anyway constant critisism of our own players doesn't really help much.
Nice response too from Jermaine Easter after he scored!

well quiet on here when we win There's a 15 page match thread? Posters are hardly likley to start more threads saying "well done" when they've already posted that on there, as "1973" suggests posters will leave it for match reports now. Interesting post match comments by DC, was he having a pop at the OP???

Teams are as good as you allow them to be. Hartlepool were sh--e because we harrassed them all over the pitch and in this division doing that will often be enough to make a big difference. Let's be honest Accrington,Orient and Portsmouth did the same to us and a neutral would have left those games saying we were sh--e. Every gas player worked their socks off last night and we didn't give the ball away cheaply. Hartlepools midfield in the first half I thought were quite good and given more time could have controlled the match but we got on top of them and in the end battered them to submission with a true team performance.

Another 3 points Saturday please perspective yes, Still think it won't be so easy at home. we need some pace out wide to unlock teams who'll have more players behind the ball. And of course a centre forward who can head well.

Steve, don't think we were sh**e at all against Accy and Pompey - we were in both games but just didn't know how to break down two good defences !

Agree we weren't quite so terrible against Portsmouth though.

Interesting post match comments by DC, was he having a pop at the OP??? ? Can you elaborate please? “Chris Lines and Tom Parkes haven’t done anything wrong but we haven’t won in the last five so it is a case of changing things around with a couple of long trips and four games in a week in mind as well. “People will look for something that isn’t there because that is what they do, but there is a good mentality in the group and their attitudes are all spot on.

Actually it looks pre not post match: Discussing his selection decisions before the game, Clarke had said: “We needed to get on a winning run and gain some momentum so I brought (Mark) McChrystal and (Lee) Mansell back into freshen things up. “It is a squad game and that is how it will be whilst I am the manager because the boys know how I manage and that no individual is bigger than the club and that is me included.” Read more: www.bristolpost.co.uk/BRISTOL-ROVERS-Marcus-Stewart-salutes-players/story-27893542-detail/story.html#ixzz3nD8LKqsE Follow us: @bristolpost on Twitter | bristolpost on Facebook
