Jamie Lucas scores for Boreham wood again Big fan of DC and even as a very wary, cynical Gashead I trust his decision making almost implicitly but I really can't understand what's happening with Lucas. He came in for the Plymouth game and his flicked header put Ellis through for the penalty (memory is a bit hazy but was it Lucas who headed the ball back across for Harrison in the dying seconds, as well?) and then he's gone again. Seems very strange. Makes me wonder if the budget is that tight that with Bliss back Lucas has to go back out on loan to balance the books. Sad if true.

Or, it would be silly to have 5 strikers on our books with two not even in the squad most of the time? DC knows what's best for his development. Just doesn't like to chuck them in at once a la Ward with Harrison and Santos.

DC surely explained his motives by saying he felt it would be better for JL to get 90 mins at BW rather than 10 mins at best, at Rovers, once a week. Plus he's likely to be playing twice a week given how many games they play in the Conference/National league.

I guess psychologically if he cements his goal scoring confidence/reputation at Conference level he will be more ready to withstand subsequent set backs. I'd speculate the DC is building Lucas up to use later in the season when injury strikes or someone goes stale? Borehamwood have gone full time this season so Lucas will be busy.

The Plymouth outing should be seen as a positive for the player. Yes he might have flicked this or that but maybe the rest of his game needs more miles? He is better getting starts than warming the bench and he can take his place when the opportunity arises again. It only takes Taylor to get injured or an Ellis suspension and he'll be back in contention.

Agree with the last few points. In addition, Taylor harrison and easter are all now on 4 goals for the season, we've scored 9 in 3 and dc would be mad to throw him in ahead of those 3.
90 minutes at boreham wood, more goals/confidence under his belt, learning about the professional game and match experience ready to go when one of the above is injured, fatigued or out of form. Its great management in my opinion.
Wouldve been a different argument entirely I imagine if we hadnt just won 3 on the spin and started finding the back of the net. But dc clearly (and has been proven right to) trusted his more experienced strikers to come good, and they have.
