What position does this lad actually play?
Wiki says midfield but his goal scoring record implies he's a striker. If he's a winger then win win!

BRISTOL ROVERS want Richie Towell, as boss Darrell Clarke weighs up making a contract offer. The League Two outfit have been scouting the Dundalk ace for months. The Dubliner, 24, is a free agent this winter and will only move cross-channel again — he was previously at Celtic and Hibs — for the right deal. Rovers are one of the biggest clubs in League Two and have the financial clout to up his wages. But Towell has helped the Lilywhites to back-to-back leagues and has Champions League ambitions next term. Last winter, Towell trained with both Cardiff City and Blackpool before deciding to sign a new contract at Dundalk. Meanwhile, St Pat’s are eyeing Bray midfielder Graham Kelly while Bohemians are after Shamrock Rovers’ Kieran Marty Waters and Drogheda United’s Mick Daly. www.thesun.ie/irishsol/homepage/sport/6714520/Rovers-to-offer-Rich-pickings.htmlDidn't we have another GREAT player who once played for Hibs & Celtic? Just can't recall his name!

Anyone got any gossip on this one?
A CAM is exactly what we need in my opinion.

Perhaps if we had some money from a decent cup run we might have signed him up?

He claims he had a chance to sign for Peterborough last season but didn't see the point given he feels League 1 is the same standard as he currently plays.
I think he's unlikely to come to league 2.
However if we offered him a short term contact perhaps he'll come- prove to others he's the business he thinks he is?

Seems to think he's too good for the likes of us. Frankly his attitude stinks and if he thinks he's better off staying in Ireland then best of luck to him. Doesn't sound like a DC type of player to me so I'd say that's the end of that.
Always think we missed a trick with De La Verde. I believe DC didn't rate him because he wasn't prepared to track back and defend. Hell of a player though. You can only go so far with willing work horses, I wonder if DC is a manager above Conference/league 2?

No question he is still learning and we benefit (and suffer) from that. But in 5 years we won't be able to afford him unless the club moves up a division or 2. We just need a team to match!

"DC didn't rate him because he wasn't prepared to track back and defend" - Just like that waste of space called Messi. He's crap at defending too !
