I had made the last minute decision to go with a friend last night and I thought the experience was poor especially for the £7 they were charging on the door. To begin with I parked my car behind the DriBuild stand which was a luxury in itself. Walked round to the supporters club bar behind the Blackthorn end and was promptly told to walk back round to the DriBuild to buy a ticket then come back. Not too bad I as I turned up before 7 in plenty of time but a sign or two somewhere would have been nice. Upon getting in about 10 past 7 we walked in to the supporters club bar to find about 30 chairs, many with accompanying tables talking up nearly all the floor space. As these were already taken I got a pint although not of the usual Butcombe as they had already ran out and decided to stand in front of the bar between that and the seats as it was the only reasonable space left a good view. It was a bit squashed in come kick off time and the jobsworth organiser decided to have a go at me when I first got there for standing there even though there was nowhere to go and I was soon swamped with other gasheads who he left alone. The match experience was acceptable but not great. the picture quality was good although the sound was fed back and a really low bit rate and the noise from the distortion was ear ringing. This also meant that the croud was hard to hear and any stadium announcements were impossible to work out especially for substitutes which you couldn't tell we're happening if the cameraman decided to look at one of their players on the pitch or the ball boy near the dug outs which he seemed to take a liking to! Some simple on screen graphics would have sorted that out. The camera was often too far zoomed in and at both ends there was posts blocking views in the corners. There was no replays either so the feed was far from television standard. The atmosphere was flat as a pancake in the first half which went with the performance but there was a good buzz going round in the second especially when the winner went in. Overall I felt that it was a good night but it really wasn't worth the £7 to get in. I'd spent the first half wishing I was at home with the radio on and a glass of something strong to take the edge of the nerves! I wouldn't pay more than £2 or £3 to get in next time if i decided to although I probably wouldn't. I went to the Hartlepool beamback in 2007 and that was a far better experience with a big screen in front of the Blackthorn end with commentary. Thanks for sharing your experience. To be honest I don't think £7 is too bad as they have to pay for stewarding staff etc as well as the costs involved in getting it beamed back. However if it is not a good experience then people will not attend again so they need to look at how they can improve on that. I didn't go this time but, I would probably go if they did it again Wasn't it sponsored by Heineken, the Rugby World Cup sponsors, so did the club actually pay anything for the live transmission? I assume stewarding costs would be paid out of the bar takings, as otherwise no club or bar would make a profit? Just hope they do it again for games at say Carlisle, which are just too far to travel for most fans, so a live screening is unlikely to effect away support.

Spoke to someone in the bar about costings. Was advised that to do it you need a sponsor and then need to pay for the company to set everything up for the streaming. Heard a rumour that over £3000 was taken behind the bar add that to the ticket sales and box prices.

I am led to believe that the cost of the beam-back was approx £1,400, so that will minimise any profit from the bars once you factor in the staffing costs. i was up in one of the boxes and thought it was a good night

The hotels no doubt rip off their guests by charging £x per night x 30 nights x 60 rooms to make a massive profit. So I'm surprised to hear that we paid £1,400 for one fairly poor one-camera no-commentary feed.

Hence the price would be exclusive!

Thanks for the post, as I said before the game £5 was OK , £7 a bit of a rip off, particularly with no commentary. Not sure why the club can't organise things better at the Mem, what that saying about a "couldn't organise a p....." but can't see they can do much about the video quality. The water up was superbly organised in the boxes. Well done to the club.

Apologies to anyone who did not hear the 50/50 winning number announcements. Its a bit difficult to be heard without a tannoy and trying to be in two places at once.
For the exec boxes, I went outside and shouted the draw in the presence of about 50 fans, amongst whom was someone from the winners box who soon let the winner know, that it was their round!
In the clubhouse I did the draw in front of the Big Screen and wandered around shouting the results and was contacted by the winner.
The winners were:
Clubhouse - Nick Wenham from Horfield won won £ 65.50 and in the boxes the winner was Dave Moore from Hanham who won £88.50. So over £150 raised towards the 50/50 fund. Thanks to all those who bought a ticket.

Dave
Well done mate, as you know we love to moan at you when you come round but always take part.
Your threat to resign was a top one, cheers
Phil
