Genuine question, if you were given the option a few days ago to win one of our two cup games (chesham and Southend) which would you pick?
For me, as great a reward the fa cup can be, id take the win tonight. Potentially one game away from a two legged play off match to gwt to wembley and an actual chance of some silverware.
I may be in the minority here, but would be interested to hear your opinions.
There will be at least 2 league 2 sides in the semi finals, lets make it 3!

Actually there will be at least 3 because Dagenham and Oxford are playing each other so we could be the fourth

FA Cup for me. Far more lucrative and there's a good chance of a decent away day too getting to the 3rd Round. We'd take thousands if we went to Villa Park or Stamford Bridge.

FA Cup every time. The most prestigious cup competition in the world!
Exeter City cleared their debts with two games v Man Utd - granted, we'd have to play Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea & Arsenal to make a dent in our finances but what a route to the final v's Spurs that would be!!!!
I ask every year whether we pay bonuses for cup wins? We did when we reached the quarter finals!!!! A strange coincidence or players motivated by a bit of extra cash for their efforts?

Personnally I would sooner play the likes of Man U in R3 rather than Wigan etc in the JPT final, as it brings great publicity, & cash, to the club, although I doubt we'd have got pass Bradford in R2, so perhaps the JPT is an easier option to a decent pay out?
Having said that since Lambert left our cup form has been generally shocking.

Actually there will be at least 3 because Dagenham and Oxford are playing each other so we could be the fourth Milwall are through though so there will be a league 1 side. If we can get through tonight and avoid milwall id think wembley is very much a reality. Cant see us winning tonight though sadly. People mention man united arsenal etc in the third round but what are the chances of that actually happening? Id love it and would take it over wembley in jpt, but realistically I think the jpt is a more viable route for a) a payday, b) silverware and c) a great day out for the fans

You OP just asked which we'd choose? Although is winning at Southend anymore viable than beating Bradford? After that we could just as easy lose to Millwall etc in the JPT as pull our a Premiership side in R3?

Sadly the only bit of success we will see this season is a JPT cup run so i'll take the JPT over the FA cup - I don't watch Rovers to see them get smashed by Manchester city reserves and finance another Bentley for MR Higgs drive way. I watch them because I want to see them succeed and be winners.

I'd take the FA cup as
a) ITS THE FA CUP b) The chance to go and play an Arsenal, Liverpool, Man U, etc c) The potential payout for a half decent cup run outweighs the same run in the JPT

Difference is, there would be 63 teams we could draw in the third round of fa cup, of which probably less than 8 would suffice as a big prem cup draw/on tv. Even then itd preferably be away which is 50/50. Feels more viable to win against a couple of l1 teams for a day out at wembley. Despite it only being the jpt.

I guess its trading a good chance of a day out to wembley vs the much smaller odds (but better rewards) of playing a man u arsenal etc. We got to the last 8 a few years back yet the best team we faced was fulham away. Whilst that was class, it goes to prove that a run doesn't guarantee you your man united or arsenal

Neither, get out of the cups and concentrate on a promotion push, the fa rounds money is good but if we achieve promotion the rewards are far greater and we can achieve it, just need some money for a striker! Maybe next round of the fa cup would've been nice to be in. UTG

Given a getting into the 3rd round and being in the 'lottery' of a big tie vs a day out at Wembley I'd take Wembley every time!

Exeter made a quarter of a million from their tie at Old Trafford a few years ago. Just 2 games and you are in the 3rd round, Paint pot cup seems to go on forever

Not too bothered myself however it would be nice to win the JPT just to put the past final defeats to bed..... Tranmere 1990 & Doncaster 2007 still hurt but I can see the magic of a FA Cup 3rd or 4th round tie v a Man Utd or an Arsenal or Chelsea

For me I would want to beat Chesham. Not because it's FA cup, but because there is no shame losing to higher placed opposition.
