Just heard "runaway" by Del Shannon and it really took me back to the old Twerton days. Maybe I'm getting too nostalgic here but didn't they play before every home game when we won the championship in 1990?

I started going to Twerton just after the championship year but they sure played it every game after that. Great memories and always makes me think of the Twerton years.

I seem to recall we never lost when it was played in our promotion year at Twerton.

Used to enjoy Keith Valle's unique style of talking the pxxs out of everything whilst we were at Twerton
Was there the day we played the Teds and he commented on Substitute "Junior being Bent"
Don't think you'd get away with that these days though...

"Coming on for city is junior bent and I expect he is bent" was what he said I think. I think he either got the sack or was suspended for it. Another one was when he announced Man City's sub Gary Flitcroft as Gary Flip Flop.

Loved Runaway though.

I remember Skin Head Moonstomp on the Tote feckin superb - symarip You know the bit where he goes, i'm the boss man caleb. tis almost as if you can imagine darrel singing it to the team in the dressing room before a game, or even better a new official club song, with darrel on vocals and the team chipping in with the yeahs.

Runaway should be played before every game, also I'd like to hear Leadbelly's Irene. EDIT : Oh and some Portishead, Roni Size & Liam Bane.

Yep, that's what he said. I was there that day and it was greeted with much hilarity by the Popular faithful.

If you liked " runaway" you may also like " Keep Searchin'"(we'll follow the Gas) Del Shannon which was a big hit.

One of those things where it was a happy coincidence but it did feel like a good luck omen. I recall a tannoy announcement during that season that we never lost when that was played and included previous seasons. Later it was played all the time and inevitably we eventually lost.

I seem to remember he did a game at the mem in the early days. Really wasn't the same. Great memories of Keith at Twerton though and was nice to hear Runaway on the radio on my way to work earlier in the week!
