I think he will sign another 1 year deal for DC if nothing else. If i was him, I wouldn't be signing because of 'fan love' as a sinclair type would, as a lot of fans have been stupidly overly critical

I wish dc didn't make the vardy comparison tbh to trigger press attention, but it was only a matter of time b4 clubs noticed his blistering form. Matty is very much a confidence player though so i can see why dc would try to boost it further Aren't most strikers? Of course, just dc's comparison has attracted national press, but as i said he is doing that on his own anyway

Just putting it out there, but I bet Barnet are now wishing they cashed in on akinde last January. Talk of 1 million pound move but they issued a strict hands off warning! Look at him now. Back to being a player who can't cut it in league football.

The big question is why we didn't tie MT & TL down to contract extensions last summer, we could now lose them both for nominal fees if they decided to just move on.

I have a feeling that both will sign new contracts but with get out clauses if the right amount is bid. Why? because I think MT will show DC and BRFC a little bit of loyalty for giving him the opportunity and TL because he has been at Rovers for years. Both will go at some point because they can play at a higher level than Div 2 but I honestly believe they will do it in the right way. No rhyme or reason to this just my own gut feeling.

Yea it is hoping, but matty seems like a good bloke. I just think he owes dc atleast another year after taking him from 4th choice striker at fgr to his main man at a bigger club. dc kept faith in him when he wasnt scoring at the start of last seas and is a big shock to most that dc and matty have come so far in the last 15 months. Two non league blokes taking the league by storm on an adventure together!!! Am i being too romanticised?? Ok, Or they could both leave in the summer when the board fail to show ambition, hmmmm, which is more likely....??

Many years ago Marcus was hot property and eventually went for a reported miserly £200,000p.Arsenal were reported to be interested but chose John Hartson instead.Huddersfield I think he went to.

Yes he did go to Huddersfield, but for £1.2million after they beat us in the play offs.I'm sure they sold their main striker - Booth? for slightly more and used the money to buy Marcus....

He would go with the best wishes of fans - same as Randall, Stewart, Taylor, Penrice, Hayles, Roberts, Cureton, Carayol and Lambert.

We need to send out a message. What usually happens is when one leaves, others start to follow. If we can tie Taylor and Lockyer down then it sends a real message out. Taylor Lockyer Leadbetter Harrison Brown and even Patkes are all capable at playing at a higher level right now and I think offers will come in for all across the season - it going to be a tough job to hang onto them all

Mr consistent and wouldn't look out of place in league 1. Gotta remember that alongside ability hes fairly experienced, rarely injured, is never in the press for negative reasons and seems a genuinely likeable bloke. A lot of traits most of this squad have actually, and ones which I am sure make a player more attractive to clubs as they are less risky and there are no surprises with what you are gettinf. Wouldnt be arsed if harrison left although I do believe he could cut it in league 1 at some point.

Harrison I agree has potential but we can't wait around for ever to fulfil it. He really impressed last season but hasn't kicked on this. Parkes similar. Both capable of playing higher just need to be more consistent and apply better attitudes IMO.

And before someone mentions Ellis only being 21 still. I know that but I would like to see more progression. So far he has been very inconsistent throughout his career. Taylor and Ellis does have potential to be explosive if both performed to their potential. At the moment only one of them is doing so.

You've hit the nail on the head there, towards the end of last season Harrsion was virtually undropable with Taylor was struggling to keep up with him, whilst MT's kicked on this season EH seems to have gone backwards and is now seemingly behind Easter even on the bench. Talk of EH playing at a higher level by the U21 manager seems nonsense to me, unless EH has already lined up a move in January/the summer hence his apparent lack of development.

Tricky situation.
If he leaves we wont replace him. That i am 100% certain of.
But
His contracts up and doesnt resign we will get zero for him in the summer.
If i was dc i would beg him to resign a 1 year deal and then omly accept a cold hard cash deal. None of this fancy add ons pay you latter bull....we need the money right away.

If he leaves DC will see very little of the money, it will go to paying off the Wonga loan, well a bit of it.
