[b So what you saying the likes of Argos and Smyths are just as bad as Rovers? Have you ever tried buying something and its been out of stock? Don't tell me no, its just Rovers who have ever ran out of stock? Just because others do it doesn't make it right! With that philosophy, the world would be an even worse place! And yes; Argos and Smyths are guilty of it as well - perhaps one of the reasons Argos is on the verge of administration! according to jock we should have got so many that if we didnt sell them now we could wait to sell them another season. who will want to buy out of date shirts? we change our sponsor every season! excellent sence there eh?

You're being a bit silly. how? Coz you were conflating the idea of not selling them now with not selling them this season, whereas 'now' and 'this season' has nearly five months difference. And if we over stock for xmas we will still have a good while to sell them at full price later, and then a good while to sell more at a discount towards the end of the season. It isn't a matter of running out before xmas or having loads left over next season. There's lots of middle ground.

[br lets be honest if we havent sold them all for full price before xmas we sure aint doing it after. according to lord sugar we should over stock now knowing we could get top dollar in a following season. who will pay top dollar for an out of date shirt?

And what happens if we get into the playoffs again? We end up with last season's fiasco?

Yeah, but clothing retail always works like that. You overstock for the season, with the intention of having as close as possible to the full range in stock during the whole of your key selling period. Then you discount in preparation for the next season. Even discounted stock makes money, until your very last mad sale bit when you go down to half price. But even clearing stuff at half price doesn't lose money. If you run out during a key time (like, I assume at BRFC, xmas) then that's losing potential sales. Eg, if you stock 150 items and sale 100 at full value and 50 at half price mad sales time, you still make more than selling 80 at full price. That's why generally clothing retailers have sales periods. It's not that they're really rubbish at guessing how much they will sale, they deliberately err on the side of too much. Coz effectively overstock doesn't cost them anything, but understock does.

Better to have too much than not enough. I imagine there's a fairly decent mark up on shirts. Plus the fact that Boycie is mates with Errea. Run out of shirts and word would spread very quickly.
